Background: Mid-term results following surgical hip dislocation (SHD) for healed slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) and Perthes-related deformities are limited. This study aimed to characterize patient-reported outcome measures [including rates of achieving the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) and patient-acceptable symptomatic state (PASS)], report survivorship free from conversion to arthroplasty, and identify risk factors associated with composite failure.

Methods: Twenty-seven patients (n=13 SCFE, n=14 Perthes) with minimum 2-year follow-up (mean 5.

Article Synopsis
  • Acetabular dysplasia, historically defined by the lateral center edge angle, is now classified into three dimensions using the Ottawa classification, where Ottawa A involves specific types of acetabular issues.
  • A study compared outcomes of patients with Ottawa A dysplasia undergoing periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) to a control group with traditional dysplasia, measuring improvement via modified Harris Hip Score and International Hip Outcome Tool-33 over an average of 2.3 years.
  • Results showed both groups significantly improved after PAO, with similar rates of achieving minimal clinically important differences, indicating that patients with Ottawa A dysplasia can expect outcomes comparable to traditional cases.
