A Fuzzy-Based System for Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Ship Deck Landing.

This paper introduces a fuzzy logic-based autonomous ship deck landing system for fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The ship is assumed to maintain a constant course and speed. The aim of this fuzzy logic landing model is to simplify the task of landing UAVs on moving ships in challenging maritime conditions, relieving operators from this demanding task.

Description and development of Auerbachia ignobili n. sp. (Cnidaria: Myxosporea: Bivalvulida) from the giant trevally, Caranx ignobilis (Forsskål, 1775) from Indian waters.

New observations of the endangered giant freshwater whipray, Urogymnus polylepis, provide further evidence for its distribution and breeding in the north-east coast of India.

The present study reports observations of 13 giant freshwater whipray (Urogymnus polylepis) from commercial fish landings along the north-east coast of India and updates existing records based on field observations and local social media reports. The disc width of the landed specimens ranged from 120 to 223 cm and they weighed 95-300 kg. All 13 specimens observed were mature (nine females and four males) and three females were pregnant, with embryo numbers ranging between 4 and 15.

Effect of environment on spatio-temporal structuring of fish assemblages in a monsoon-influenced tropical estuary.

This study analyzes the trophic structure of fish assemblages in a well-mixed tropical estuary, Zuari, located in southwest coast of India. A total of 224 fish species were collected between September 2013 and August 2016 from 324 sampling events from 9 sampling stations using surface and bottom set gillnets. The sampling events were designed to cover three major seasons such as the pre-monsoon, monsoon, and post-monsoon.

The present paper describes a new species of Chloromyxum infecting the urinary bladder of the estuarine fish, Scatophagus argus, from the southwest coast of India. The parasite exhibited an overall prevalence of 41.93%; the prevalence is influenced by host size and seasons.

Redescription of the rare and endangered Broadfin Shark Lamiopsis temminckii (Müller & Henle, 1839) (Carcharhiniformes:Carcharhinidae) from the northeastern Arabian Sea.

The genus Lamiopsis (Carcharhinidae) was previously considered to be monotypic, containing only the Broadfin Shark Lamiopsis temminckii (Müller & Henle, 1839) widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific. However, a recent taxonomic study revealed that the Western Central Pacific populations were a separate species and that L. temminckii was restricted to the northern Indian Ocean.

The simultaneous management of glaucoma and corneal opacification is sometimes required in infants with severe congenital glaucoma if timely visual rehabilitation is to be achieved. A 1-month-old female infant presented with an enlarged, protuberant, opaque cornea in each eye and elevated intraocular pressure. An intrastromal, fluid-filled cleft was noted in both corneas.

Combined phacoemulsification and trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C.

Background And Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of combined phacoemulsification and trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C with respect to visual rehabilitation and control of intraocular pressure in patients with coexisting cataract and glaucoma.

Patients And Methods: The authors retrospectively studied 20 consecutive cases of phacoemulsification with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation combined with trabeculectomy using mitomycin-C. They included in their study 20 eyes of 19 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma, pseudoexfoliation glaucoma, inflammatory glaucoma, chronic angle-closure glaucoma, and normal tension glaucoma.

Neural network analysis of the EMG interference pattern.

This paper investigates the performance of artificial neural networks for analysing and classifying EMG signals from healthy subjects and patients with myopathic and neuropathic disorders. EMG interference patterns (IP) were recorded under maximum voluntary contraction from the right biceps of a total of 50 subjects. Parameters were obtained from the signals using recognized quantification techniques including turns analysis, small segments analysis and frequency analysis.

Comparison of Nidek 3Dx and Donaldson simultaneous stereoscopic disk photography.

We performed a retrospective study on 100 eyes of 55 consecutive patients to compare the stereoscopic quality of simultaneous stereoscopic disk photographs and the reproducibility of optic nerve assessments using the Nidek 3Dx system and the Donaldson fundus camera. Photographs were taken on the same eyes on the same dates and reviewed independently by one clinician three times in a randomized, masked fashion. Mean cup/disk ratios using the Nidek 3Dx system were similar to mean cup/disk ratios using the Donaldson camera.

Ocular hypotony after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C.

Because mitomycin C reduces the resistance to aqueous outflow normally provided by postoperative subconjunctival fibrosis, we would expect to see more frequent hypotony after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C than after standard trabeculectomy. This study describes a new variant of the pinhole principle. Holes drilled in clear plastic lenses held in combination with a blurring lens can overcome the blurring effect much as a traditional pinhole. Specifically, this study shows how holes of different diameter placed in lenses of different spherical power can improve visual acuity that has been degraded by a series of blurring spherical lenses.
