Parenchymal liver metastases from ovarian cancer, occurring in 2-12.5% of cases, significantly worsen prognosis. While surgery and systemic treatments remain primary options, unresectable or chemotherapy-resistant multiple liver metastases pose a significant challenge.

We realized a pipeline that relies on survival machine-learning (SML) classifiers and explainability based on patients' follow-up (FU) to stratify prognosis from the public-available multi-omic datasets of the CPTAC-PDA project.
Materials And Methods: Analyzed datasets included tumor-annotated radiologic images, clinical, and mutational data.
In the frontline high-dose phase 3 FIL-MCL0208 trial (NCT02354313), 8% of enrolled mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) patients could not be randomised to receive lenalidomide (LEN) maintenance vs observation after autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) due to inadequate hematological recovery and 52% of those who started LEN, needed a dose reduction due to toxicity. We therefore focused on the role played by CD34 + hematopoietic stem cells (PBSC) harvesting and reinfusion on toxicity and outcome. Overall, 90% (n = 245) of enrolled patients who underwent the first leukapheresis collected ≥ 4 × 10 PBSC/kg, 2.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLower extremity lymphedema (LEL) is a common complication following surgical staging of endometrial cancer. LEL is a chronic condition associated with significant impact on patient morbidity and quality of life (QoL). This review aimed to report the current evidence in the literature on secondary LEL after surgical staging for endometrial cancer, focusing on the incidence based on different approaches to lymph node staging, diagnosis, risk factors, and the impact on QoL.

Background: Throughout the last decade, a notable increase in HA-filler-related complications have been observed, owing to the increase in demand for filler injections and availability of multiple products.
Objectives: The aim is to provide practical advice on the best way to prevent and treat HA-filler-related complications.
Methods: Thirty patients who experienced visible and/or symptomatic complications localized within the facial area were treated according to our algorithm.
Background: In Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), several methodologies are emerging to derive novel biomarkers to be incorporated in the risk assessment. We realized a pipeline that relies on autoencoders (AE) and Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to stratify prognosis and derive a gene-based signature.
Methods: AE was exploited to learn an unsupervised representation of the gene expression (GE) from three publicly available datasets, each with its own technology.

A relevant problem in medicine is the standardization of the diagnosis associated with a clinical case. Although diagnosis formulation is an intrinsically subjective and uncertain process, its standardization may take benefit from digital solutions automating the routines at the basis of such a decision. In this work, we propose ARGO 2.

We have previously demonstrated that not all AML subtypes display the same dependency on MYB expression and that such variability is dictated by the nature of the driver mutation. However, whether this difference in MYB dependency is a general trend in AML remains to be further elucidated.

Extension of disease as well as the presence of metastases define the prognosis of patients. Accurate tumor staging at diagnosis is essential for adequate planning for treatment.

Methods: Patients with AOC who underwent pre-operative computed tomography (CT) scan, laparoscopic evaluation, and cytoreductive surgery between August 2016 and February 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. Predictive Index (PI) score and Peritoneal Cancer Index (PCI) scores were used to estimate the tumor load and predict the residual disease in the primary debulking surgery (PDS) and interval debulking surgery (IDS) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) groups.
Lean management is a relatively new organizational vision transferred from the automotive industry to the healthcare and administrative sector based on analyzing a production process to emphasize value and reduce waste. This approach is particularly interesting in a historical moment of cuts and scarcity of economic resources and could represent a low-cost organizational solution in many production companies. In this work, we analyzed the presentation and the initial management of current ministerial research projects up to the approval by the Scientific Directorate of an Italian research institute.

The immune response against USUV and WNV and their immunopathogenesis are still poorly investigated. Here we present results upon sequential infections of adult immunocompetent CD-1 and BALB/c mice primed with two different doses (high dose, HD or low dose, LD) of an USUV isolate and challenged with HD or LD of three different WNV isolates.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA long-standing debate amongst international relations scholars has surrounded the question of whether international institutions with judicial authority enjoy more autonomy and discretion than other global institutions. This is mainly because international courts are established as impartial third-party actors tasked with performing adjudicative functions for conflicting parties. As such, the delegation contracts of international institutions with judicial authority are expected to minimize control by states, even in cases where the members of a court engage in judicial overreach.

The aim of this study is to analyze the results obtained in CKD patients who followed a plant-based moderately protein-restricted diet during pregnancy in comparison with a propensity-score-matched cohort of CKD pregnancies on unrestricted diets. A total of 52 CKD pregnancies followed up with a protein-restricted plant-based diet (Torino, Italy) were matched with a propensity score based on kidney function and proteinuria with CKD pregnancies with unrestricted protein intake (Cagliari Italy).

Methods: A retrospective investigation was performed on a prospectively maintained database of breast reconstruction cases at our institution between January 2015 and December 2020. We considered only immediate DTI breast reconstructions without ADM following radiotherapy and salvage mastectomy for local recurrence, with at least a 12-month follow-up.

By regulating the lipid metabolism, Liver-X-Receptors (LXRs) control Mo polarization/inflammatory response, and their pharmacological modulation is under clinical investigation to treat human cancers, including lymphomas. Herein, we surveyed the role of LXRs in DLBCL for prognostic purposes.

We describe MRD results from the Fondazione Italiana Linfomi phase 3 MCL0208 prospective clinical trial assessing lenalidomide (LEN) maintenance vs observation after autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) in the first prospective comprehensive analysis of different techniques, molecular markers, and tissues (peripheral blood [PB] and bone marrow [BM]), taken at well-defined time points. Among the 300 patients enrolled, a molecular marker was identified in 250 (83%), allowing us to analyze 234 patients and 4351 analytical findings from 10 time points.

Preclinical evidence has supported the role of adenosine in the pathogenesis of this malignancy as well as the development of selective adenosine pathway inhibitors.
Areas Covered: The paper overviews the evidence regarding the use of adenosine pathway inhibitors in breast cancer; a literature search was conducted in January 2022 of Pubmed/Medline, Cochrane library, and Scopus databases.
