Ongoing increase in incidence and prevalence of multiple sclerosis in south-eastern Iran: A three decade study.

Background: Prevalence of multiple sclerosis has been increased during the last decades throughout the world. Epidemiological studies could improve our understanding relating to its intrinsic and extrinsic causes.

Objectives: The current study has been conducted to determine the epidemiological features of MS in south-eastern Iran which is a semi-tropical area with different ethnicities.

Epidemiology and clinical manifestations of juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) in Iran.

Because most descriptive studies did not specifically analyze the syndromes of idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE), including juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), epidemiologic data concerning these syndromes are scarce or often unreliable. In this retrospective chart review study, all patients with a clinical diagnosis of JME were recruited at the outpatient epilepsy clinic at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, from 2008 to 2013. Demographic variables and relevant clinical and EEG variables were summarized descriptively.

Predictors of seizure control in patients with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME).

Purpose: Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) is a widely accepted epilepsy syndrome. Factors that are potentially predictive for seizure outcome in JME are not entirely clear yet. In the current study, we tried to identify factors that are potentially predictive for seizure outcome in patients with JME.
