[The combined x-ray-endoscopic evaluation of the late results in organ-preserving operations with vagotomy in peptic ulcer].

The article gives an objective assessment of remote results of surgical treatment of 197 patients who underwent organ-sparing operations combined with vagotomy for ulcer disease. Combined utilization of contemporary roentgenologic and endoscopic techniques allowed some important conclusions of practical value to be drawn.

[The cytoskeleton of the endothelium and mesangium of rat kidney glomeruli].

Cytoskeleton architectonics of endothelial and mesangial cells has been studied in renal glomeruli of the mongrel rats. The typical tessellated disposition of cytoskeletal elements is determined in which microtubules are dominating. The microtubules form a diffuse large-loop network in the zone of perikaryon and neighbouring cytoplasm.

[Protein composition of venoms from several species of tropical ants and their effect on mitochondrial H+-ATPase].

Protein compositions of venoms of South-American stinging ants, Ectatomma tuberculatum, Paraponera clavata (subfamily Ponerinae), and "tangarana" were analyzed. The venom of E. tuberculatum displayed the most complex protein composition (more than 15 polypeptides).

Crystal structure of the superantigen staphylococcal enterotoxin type A.

Staphylococcal enterotoxins are prototype superantigens characterized by their ability to bind to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules and subsequently activate a large fraction of T-lymphocytes. The crystal structure of staphylococcal enterotoxin type A (SEA), a 27 kDa monomeric protein, was determined to 1.9 A resolution with an R-factor of 19.

More and more young people are living on the streets of Moscow and getting involved in substance abuse and crime. The authors outline the effort being made by the International Health and Temperance Association to organize a response to this rapidly growing problem.

[Methodical aspects of formation of diagnostically related groups for inpatient therapeutic-prophylactic institutions].

The authors discuss problems concerning the methodology of the evolution of standard sets of therapeutic-prophylactic measures and diagnostically related groups (DRG) for in-patient hospitals. The peculiarities of the formation of DRG for colo-proctological patients in a proctological clinic are shown as an example and DRG of the surgical and therapeutic classes are indicated. The results of studying the frequency of combined pathology in diseases of the large intestine are discussed.

The paper describes a Pulsar-1000M laser installation which is a powerful pulse laser based on neodymium glass, which works in the free generation mode. Radiation generated by the installation is an effective technique for treating cancer squamatous cell carcinomas, as well as benign skin tumors.

[Study of the structural organization of OSCP--subunits of H+-ATPase of porcine heart mitochondria].

Unmodified and citraconilated OSCP of the pig heart mitochondrial H(+)-ATPase were hydrolysed by proteinase from Staphylococcus aureus V8 and trypsin, respectively. To purify the individual peptides, various types of HPLC and covalent chromatography on SH-Sepharose were used. By the automatic Edman method complete or partial amino acid sequences of the peptides obtained were determined, thus allowing for the reconstruction of the primary structure of pig OSCP.

[The relaxation psychotherapy of patients with cerebrovascular diseases: its efficacy and predictors].

In order to evaluate psychological relaxation therapy (PRT) efficacy and to investigate the possibility of its prediction 52 patients with transitory cerebral vascular disorders and 72 postapoplectic patients were examined by psychological tests. A comparative analysis of the status changes in 59 patients under PRT and 65 patients without PRT, revealed improvement of psychological status in PRT patients: reduction of psychopathological symptoms and improvement of patients' psychological adaptation. According to pathopsychological tests, no influences of PRT on functions of memory and attention were found.

Wild-type and E106Q mutant carbonic anhydrase complexed with acetate.

The molecular structures of the acetate complexes of wild-type human carbonic anhydrase II (HCAII) and of E106Q mutant human carbonic anhydrase II were solved with high completeness (89-91%) to 2.1 and 1.9 A resolution, respectively.

[The characteristics of the pneumonias found in those who die in the postoperative period].

A clinicomorphological examination of the respiratory organs has been conducted in 25 adults and 30 children who died after abdominal surgery. The authors compared the findings of light and immunofluorescent microscopy with laboratory and clinical evidence. Acute respiratory infections revealed in the examinees appeared of different etiology, many of them proved to be mixed.
