In the period between 1961 and 1981, 55 patients with the Paget-Schroetter syndrome were under observation. Clinical-expert examination was conducted by rheovasography, skin temperature measurement, capillaroscopy, phlebomanometry, and phlebography. Phlebography is most important in establishing the diagnosis of the disease, determination of the extent of occlusion of the deep veins and the prognosis.

Since 1966 to 1976 3694 patients were treated for deforming arthrosis (4953 joints) with local periarticular novocain-hydrocortisone blockades supplemented with intramuscular injections of rheopyrin (pyrabutanol). The method proved to be highly effective, being not inferior to intraarticular injections of hydrocortisone suspension. Only in 8 patients phlegmons occurred, the excision of which resulted in prompt recovery.

The experimental and clinical findings obtained by the authors have evidenced the rationale of using an autovein or large femoral fascia for application of a cuff. While using synthetic materials, some cases of venous thrombosis under a cuff were observed. Late results of the operation during 2-5 years were followed up in 25 patients, 13 of them had crural ulcers.
