Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate differential attainment during higher surgical training (HST; all specialties) related to three ethnic cohorts: White UK (WUKG), Black and Minority Ethnic UK Graduates (BMEUKG), and International Medical Graduates (IMG).

Method: Anonymised records of 266 HSTs (126 WUKG, 65 BMEUKG, 75 IMG; 7 years) in a single UK Statutory Education Body were examined. Primary effect measures were Annual Record of Competency Progression Outcome (ARCPO) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) pass.

Cerebral aneurysms (CA), an abnormal bulge in the arteries that supply blood to the brain, are prone to rupture and can cause hemorrhagic stroke. Physicians can treat CA by blocking blood flow to the aneurysmal sac via clipping of the aneurysm neck via open procedure, or endovascular occlusion of the aneurysm with embolic materials to promote thrombus formation to prevent further inflow of blood into the aneurysm. Endovascular treatment options for CA still have significant limitations in terms of safety, usability in coagulopathic patients, and risks of device migration.

An off-axis digital holographic imaging polarimeter was developed to estimate the Jones matrices of an object. The Jones vector image of the electric field returned from the object is determined from a single holographic recording using the interference between the dual, nearly orthogonal, reference beams. The technique compensates for phase variations in the optical beam paths between the recorded holograms and relaxes the need to generate orthogonal illumination polarization states.

Scattering of spin-up and spin-down electrons while passing through a ferromagnetic domain wall (DW) leads to an additional resistance for transport current, usually observed prominently in constricted magnetic structures. In this report we use the resistance of the DW as a probe to find an indirect signatures of the theoretically predicted spin-singlet supercurrent to spin-triplet supercurrent conversion effect of ferromagnetic DWs. Here we examine the DW induced resistance in Ni stripe in a bilayer Ni/Nb geometry in the normal state and in the superconducting state of Nb.
