Background: Echocardiographic right ventricular (RV) dysfunction is a strong risk determinant for prognosis in patients with heart failure (HF). Although parameters of RV systolic function are widely used to define RV dysfunction, there is scarce data to suggest these parameters are best suited to predict HF-related outcomes.

Aims: We aimed to understand which morphologic or functional parameters are most closely associated with short-term mortality and HF-related hospitalization in patients with HF.

Article Synopsis
  • Behcet's disease (BD) is a systemic disorder that causes inflammation of blood vessels, potentially affecting heart function, and this study aimed to analyze right ventricular performance in asymptomatic BD patients using advanced echocardiography.
  • The study involved 40 BD patients and 40 healthy controls, comparing various echocardiographic parameters, where significant differences were found in several metrics indicating impaired right ventricular function in BD patients.
  • Results showed that increased pulmonary arterial stiffness and reduced pulmonary pulse transit time were associated with altered right ventricular function, suggesting these measures could be important for assessing heart health in BD patients.

This investigation aimed to assess the influence of birth weight on post-weaning fattening performance, meat quality, muscle fibre characteristics, and carcass traits in Karayaka lambs. The study categorized the lambs into three distinct groups based on birth weight: low birth weight (LBW), medium birth weight (MBW), and high birth weight (HBW). Throughout the fattening phase, the lambs were given access to food and water, culminating in the slaughter at the end of the study.

Background: Polycythemia vera (PV), characterized by elevated red blood cell counts, poses challenges to cardiovascular health with potential impacts on cardiac function. Myocardial infarction (MI) and heart failure are major causes of mortality in PV patients. Early detection of left ventricular systolic dysfunction is crucial for optimizing outcomes.
