The historical use of medicinal plants in traditional and scientific medicine.

There is a strong connection between man and nature, ever since his first origins, the man discovered the benefits of the plant kingdom, which he used to feed himself, to heal and to survive. Following the use of eatable, medicinal and poisonous plants takes us into the distant past. The man's first knowledge about plants passed from generation to generation.

Epidemiology of tuberculosis during the period 1703-2011: honoring the world tuberculosis day.

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the oldest, the most expanded and the most lethal diseases in human history. Although Koch's discovery of the TB causative agent (1882) represented a great progress in the fight against this infectious disease, it took a significant amount of time to reduce morbidity and mortality in the world. In Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) it was necessary to implement actions in the form of education where the popularization of measures of recognition, treatment and preventing the disease was done.

Predicting depression with temperament and character in lung cancer patients.

Depression is highly prevalent in cancer patients. Variations in intensity and frequency of depression in cancer patients may be attributed, in part, to differences in personality dimensions. Our aim was to asses if dimensions of temperament and character could predict depression in lung cancer patients.

Trauma symptoms in pupils involved in school bullying--a cross sectional study conducted in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

To determine the association between involvement in school bullying and trauma symptoms and to find whether children with presence of trauma symptoms participate in school bullying more as victims, as bullies or as bully/victims. The study included 1055, 6th to 8th grade (12-14 years of age) elementary school pupils from the western part of Mostar, The pupils were self-interviewed using a Questionnaire on School Violence developed in 2003 and validated in Croatia, and Trauma Symptoms Check List for Children (TSCC). The pupils involved in the school violence, either as victims, bullies, bully/victims had significantly more trauma symptoms than the not involved.

Shunt in the diagnosis of initial lung lesion in smokers.

Cigarette smoking is an important risk factor for all respiratory tract diseases. Unfortunately, the symptoms develop slowly, thus patients feel the consequences of the slowly developing inflammation too late. The inflammation first develops in the area of respiratory bronchioles.
