[Clinical evaluation of fluoxetine].

The multicenter trials were performed in a group of 86 depressive inpatients (among them 64 with endogenous depression) managed with fluoxetine (Prozac). It was established that the drug is most effective in managing psychogenic depressions and may also be of use in endogenous depressions, among them in drug resistant ones. Tolerance to the drug was satisfactory, 62% did not show any unwanted side-effects.

In the years 1980-1992 the authors with the cooperation of persons quoted in the References, investigated children from elementary and secondary schools, among them particularly children of unemployed parents, recruits, students of high schools and juvenile alcoholics and drug addicts. They found a decrease in the age of initiation of the use of alcohol and drugs in the last years, significant increase in the use of alcohol in all investigated groups and described the common reasons and mechanisms of development of dependency among children and youth.

[Psychosocial functioning of children and adolescents dependent on inhalation of toxic substances].

Fifty persons of the age of 13 to 18 who had been stuffing themselves with steams of solvents, were medically examined. There were used medical (psychiatrical, neurological, internal) and psychological examinations--with the D. Weschler's scale of intelligence and questionnaire interviews obtaining from those who underwent the examinations and their parents.
