Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is responsible for non-shivering thermogenesis, but it is absent in some mammals, including pigs. During development, BAT progenitors are derived from paired box 7 (Pax7)-expressing somitic mesodermal stem cells, which also give rise to skeletal muscle. However, the intrinsic mechanisms underlying the fate decisions between brown fat and muscle progenitors remain elusive.

To explore the hypothesis of "pathogen storage pool" by analyzing the local microbial community of adenoids. Under the guidance of a 70° nasal endoscope, sterile swabs were used to collect secretions from the adenoid crypts of the subjects. The samples were sent to the laboratory for DNA extraction and standard bacterial 16S full-length sequencing analysis.

Background: Maternal hemoglobin (Hb) is related to nutritional status, and it widely fluctuates during pregnancy. Purpose: This study evaluated whether endovascular therapy (ET) improved early symptom relief and decreased the incidence of moderate-to-severe post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) compared to anticoagulation alone in patients with subacute (15-28 days) iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients with subacute iliofemoral DVT from January 2020 to June 2022 were identified. A total of 86 patients were categorized to treatment with ET alongside anticoagulation (endovascular group, n = 49) or anticoagulation alone (anticoagulation group, n = 37).

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) infection causes reproductive failure and respiratory distress and is a serious threat to the swine industry, given its continuous and rapid emergence. The knowledge of viral-host interaction could facilitate anti-PRRSV drug development. HnRNP A1 is an abundantly expressed protein which associates with RNA metabolic processes and plays multifarious roles during the reproduction cycle of multiple viruses.
