An estimation method for midwife demand.

Manpower or human resource planning is a major component of health services planning. In this study, it was aimed to practice an estimation method for midwife demand in a selected region of Ankara, Turkey. In this study, the needs-based approach was used as a method of estimating manpower demand.

Public health specialists: occupational description in Turkey.

Public health encompasses all health problems and factors related with these problems and with the planning and implementation of activities to improve the health status of communities. Therefore, the public health field is universal as a science, but its implementation (activities) depends on the local problems specific to each community. Public health is afield of many sciences and should be open to people representing a wide variety of scientific backgrounds.

Reforms on medical education: the case of Kyrgyzystan.

Introduction: The Central Asian republics of the former Soviet Union gained their independence in 1991. Soon after this event, reforms in health care were planned in many of these countries. In Kyrgyzistan, the reforms included a mandatory health insurance system, a new provider payment system, licensing and accreditation, a national drug policy and rationalization of ambulatory services.

The development of national health policy in Turkey.

A written policy is an essential starting point for any administration. Objectives and targets should then be established and strategies to achieve these objectives should be developed. This general approach is also recognized in Turkey, but the policy formulation process is not linked to implementation.
