The direct and indirect effects of cefuroxime on the embryo and fetus were studied in vitro and in vivo at different gestation times. The placenta, liver and kidneys of the mother and fetus were investigated morphologically. It was shown that in a dose of 250 mg/kg the antibiotic did not induce disorders in the fetus development.

The pharmacokinetics of ampicillin was studied in 38 patients with acute pyelonephritis in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy after the first and the last (28th-32nd) intramuscular injections of the antibiotic.
