- The study used retrograde tracing and immunofluorescence to analyze neuron distribution and chemical coding in aorticoerenal (ARG) and testicular (TG) ganglia that supply the urinary bladder apex (UBA) in juvenile male pigs.
- Fast Blue tracer was injected into the bladder to label neurons, and after three weeks, various neurochemicals like tyrosine hydroxylase and neuropeptide Y were investigated in the ganglia using confocal microscopy.
- Findings showed a significant number of neurons projecting to the UBA, mainly in TG and predominantly noradrenergic, suggesting a complex neuro-endocrine role in regulating porcine urogenital function.
