Medical doctors in Hungary: 30 years after graduation. Data on lifestyle, morbidity, demography and differences between specialties.

There are few studies from East and Central European countries on health-status, lifestyle and social circumstances of medical professionals. We evaluated data of a cohort of physicians who had graduated 30 years ago in Hungary and compared the data of their professional carrier, life style, health outcomes, and medical specialties. Questionnaires compiled by an expert group and filled in by 208 physicians (83 men and 125 women) were analysed.

[Organization of the National Neurofibromatosis Register and areas of application].

Background And Purpose: The neurofibromatosis is a rare genetic disease with increased tumor growing ability and different special symptoms (Riccardi-criteria). The National NF Register has been organized by NF Hungary in 2011. The idea was initiated by hungarian neurofibromatosis experts.

Safety, tolerability, and effect on quality of life of a mixture of amino acids and other small molecules in cancer patients.

We performed two clinical studies to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and effect on quality of life of a product containing a mixture of amino acids, vitamins, and other small molecules. In the first one period, open-label, multiple-dose study, the safety and tolerability of a 1-week administration was evaluated in 24 healthy volunteers. In the second one period, open-label, multiple-dose, single-arm study, we investigated the safety, tolerability, and effect on quality of life of a 4-week administration in 50 cancer patients.

Nationwide screening program for breast and cervical cancers in Hungary: special challenges, outcomes, and the role of the primary care provider.

Introduction: Breast and cervical cancers are both common malignancies in Hungarian women. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of nationwide screening programs on the incidence and mortality of breast and cervical cancers and to assess the role of primary care providers in this context.

Materials And Methods: Published records from 2000-2011 on breast and cervical cancer screening activities in Hungary were reviewed.

[Prenatal diagnosis of central nervous system malformations].

The prenatal diagnosis of fetal malformations have been the subject of numerous publications in the literature. This has dramatically increased in the last 15 years, mainly due to the advent of high-resolution ultrasound. In addition adequate guidelines issued by professional organizations have encouraged the universal approach to the imaging of fetal anatomy as well as malformations.
