Sera from 18 prostitutes from Bratislava were examined for the presence of antibodies to several sexually transmitted pathogens, namely Herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2), Human immunodeficiency viruses 1 and 2 (HIV-1 and HIV-2), Hepatitis B and C viruses (HBV and HCV), Chlamydia trachomatis, and Treponema pallidum.
