Article Synopsis
  • - Vitiligo is the most common skin disorder involving loss of pigmentation, and current treatments aim to stop the immune response and promote skin cell regeneration.
  • - This study explored a new delivery system using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) embedded in specially designed fibrous scaffolds to enhance the release of bioactive molecules beneficial for skin cells.
  • - Results showed that the centrifugally spun scaffolds released nearly double the bioactive molecules compared to electrospun ones, with a sustained release over 14 days, boosting melanocyte activity and growth as the concentration of these molecules increased.

The mapping of time structures, chronomes, constitutes an endeavor spawned by chronobiology: chronomics. This cartography in time shows signatures on the surface of the earth, cycles, also accumulating in life on the earth's surface. We append a glossary of these and other cycles, the names being coined in the light of approximate cycle length.

Effects of Micardis (Telmisartan), alone or with low-dose aspirin, on blood pressure and other cardiovascular endpoints are examined in 20 patients with MESOR-hypertension in a crossover, double-blind, randomized study consisting of three stages, each lasting 7 days: I-placebo, II-Micardis, and III-Micardis with low-dose aspirin. Treatment was administered each day at a different circadian stage, upon awakening, and 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 hr after awakening. During each stage, the following variables were measured at 3-hr intervals during waking: systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, ejection fraction, intrarenal resistive index, acceleration time, and serum creatinine.

The mean correlation curves of the intraabdominal pressure over time were evaluated by regression analysis (value 0.05) in both groups. The curves had a rising character in both groups, but in the control group the curve rose more steeply and reached a higher level than the curve of studied group.
