Pulmonary embolism (PE), a form of venous thromboembolism, is a frequently observed complication in malignancies, with a notably high incidence in individuals with lung cancer. The presence of PE markedly reduces the quality of life and has a significant impact on the prognosis of those diagnosed with both lung cancer and PE. As a result, timely diagnosis and intervention are of paramount importance.

A randomized cohort study on the use of 3D printed models to enhance surgical training in suturing techniques.

Three-dimensional (3D) printed surgical models provide an excellent surgical training option to closely mimic real operations to teach medical students who currently rely largely on visual learning aided with simple suturing pads. Modulation of V-type starch structures using aqueous ethanol solutions of different polarities for controlled curcumin encapsulation and release.

This study investigated the effect of different-polarity aqueous ethanol solutions on the formation of V-type starch originating from corn starch. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the morphology of starch transformed from a random lamellar structure to a granular structure with decreasing solution polarity. When the ethanol concentration increased from 40 % to 60 %, the crystallinity and single-helix ratio of V-type starch increased from 9.

Grass carp is an important commercial fish in China that is plagued by various diseases, especially the hemorrhagic disease induced by grass carp reovirus (GCRV). Autophagy, a highly conserved biological process among eukaryotes, is pivotal in maintaining cellular homeostasis and managing various stressors, including viral infections. Uncoordinated (Unc) 51-like kinase 2 (ULK2) is considered an initiator of the autophagic process.

Infiltrating plasma cells maintain glioblastoma stem cells through IgG-Tumor binding.

Glioblastoma is a highly aggressive primary brain tumor with glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) enforcing the intra-tumoral hierarchy. Plasma cells (PCs) are critical effectors of the B-lineage immune system, but their roles in glioblastoma remain largely unexplored. Here, we leverage single-cell RNA and B cell receptor sequencing of tumor-infiltrating B-lineage cells and reveal that PCs are aberrantly enriched in the glioblastoma-infiltrating B-lineage population, experience low level of somatic hypermutation, and are associated with poor prognosis.
