Dendritic cells (DCs) are specialized antigen-presenting cells crucial for initiating and regulating adaptive immune responses, making them promising candidates for therapeutic interventions in various immune-mediated diseases. Increasing evidence suggests that the microenvironment in which cells are cultured, as well as the milieu in which they perform their functions, significantly impact their immunomodulatory properties. Among these environmental factors, the role of oxygen in DC biology and its significance for both their in vitro generation and in vivo therapeutic application require investigation.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is an aggressive cancer with a very poor prognosis. Recently, immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) has taken center stage in the currently ongoing revolution that is changing standard-of-care treatment for several malignancies, including MPM. Introduction: Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) and paediatric high-grade glioma (pHGG) are aggressive glial tumours, for which conventional treatment modalities fall short. Dendritic cell (DC)-based immunotherapy is being investigated as a promising and safe adjuvant therapy. Background: Oestrogen receptor positive (ER+)/HER-2 negative breast cancer (BC) is considered to be an immunologically cold tumour compared to triple negative breast cancer. Therefore, the tumour microenvironment (TME) of ER+/HER-2 negative BC is understudied.
