Background And Purpose: Radiation therapy in patients with head and neck malignancies predisposes them to oral colonization and infection due to damage of oral mucosa and destruction of the salivary gland. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of oropharyngeal candidiasis (OPC) in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) undergoing radiotherapy (RT), identify the yeasts isolated from them, and determine their antifungal susceptibility.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2018 to June 2019 at two referral radiotherapy centers in northern Iran.

The present study was performed to determine cryptococcal antigenemia and outcomes among HIV-infected patients in Iran. Cryptococcus and cryptococcosis in Iran during 1969-2019: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: Limited data are available on the epidemiology and etiology of cryptococcal infections in the Middle East. We aimed to conduct the systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the epidemiological data on prevalence of Cryptococcus species complexes in trees and their surroundings, bird guano and secretions, animals, and highlight the reported episodes of cryptococcosis in Iran.

Materials And Methods: Twelve databases, including PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Proquest, Google Scholar, Embase, and the ISI Web of Science, as well as the national databases, from January 1969 to October 2019 were searched.

Tinea Gladiatorum and Dermatophyte Contamination Among Wrestlers and in Wrestling Halls: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

To present an overview of the existing epidemiological evidence regarding the occurrence of tinea gladiatorum in wrestlers and dermatophyte contamination in wrestling halls, five electronic databases including "PubMed," "Scopus," "Google Scholar," "Science Direct," and "Web of Science" were searched from inception to 30 December 2018. Studies focusing on epidemiology of dermatophytosis among wrestlers and on the presence of dermatophytes in wrestler hall were included. Data from 13 studies, 4818 wrestlers, and 391 wrestling mat samples from Turkey, Iran, and the USA (including a separate dataset for Alaska) were included.
