A study of ultrathin sections fo the kidney tissue of mice infected with staphylococci showed intracellular localization of the bacteria. In vivo there occurred a morphological reconstruction of external layers of the cell wall of staphylococci, and lysis of individual staphylococci. The middle part of the cell wall and the cytoplasmic membrane proved to be the structures the most stable to lysis.

The results of the clinico-laboratory studies are indicative of advisable use of prodigiosan in complex therapy of cases with chronic osteomyelitis.
