Background: There is no consensus on how to wean infants from Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (NCPAP). We hypothesized that ceasing NCPAP abruptly would decrease the duration required, compared with a gradual wean.
Methods: This retrospective chart review included preterm infants requiring NCPAP for over 48 hours.
We report a case of rapidly progressive necrotizing skin and soft-tissue infection caused by Bacillus cereus in an extremely low for gestational age infant. This case reminds clinicians to consider this opportunistic pathogen as the etiologic agent in fulminant necrotizing infections in vulnerable hosts, and to institute appropriate therapy in a timely fashion.

Our objective is to identify neonatal, sociodemographic, and geographic characteristics that predict re-hospitalization in Canadian extremely preterm neonates.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of a prospective observational cohort study that included preterm infants born 22 to 28 weeks' gestational age from April 1, 2009 to September 30, 2011 and seen at 18 to 24 months corrected gestational age in a Canadian Neonatal Follow-Up Network clinic.
