Two enigmatic ridges in the Pantelleria Vecchia Bank (NW Sicilian Channel).

The Pantelleria Vecchia Bank is a submerged calcareous-arenitic shoal in the NW sector of the Sicilian Channel. Together with other morphological heights, some of which are volcanic in origin, this shoal punctuates the shallow Adventure Plateau, which was above sea level from the Last Glacial Maximum until at least 9000 years ago. The rise in sea level caused by the melting of the ice caps gradually flooded the plateau, isolating the heights and creating a broad archipelago until the area was finally submerged.

C-shaped canals-prevalence and root canal configuration by cone beam computed tomography evaluation in first and second mandibular molars-a cross-sectional study.

Objectives: C-shaped root canal configuration is an unusual root canal morphology and one of the most often anatomical variations in root canal systems of second mandibular molars. The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence, symmetry and configuration of C-shaped canals in first and second mandibular molars in an Israeli population using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials And Methods: One thousand twenty Israel patients' CBCT scans were screened and evaluated.

Introduction: Furcated root and root canal separation are anatomic variations of mandibular canines. Other studies found that up to 20% of mandibular canines have root canal separation and up to 6.8% are bifurcated teeth.

FAMILY PRESENCE DURING RESUSCITATION: PROFESSIONAL CONSIDERATIONS AND ETHICAL ISSUES.

A review of articles, carefully selected from several databases,was conducted for identifying research findings related to the professional considerations and ethical issues involved respecting the presence of the patient's family during resuscitation in adult intensive care units (ICU), the perspectives of the patients; family members and health care staff. Studies on family presence during resuscitation indicated that the majority of patients desire family members'presence during resuscitation. However, based on professional considerations, the healthcare staff held mixed, and sometimes opposite, opinions.

[The relationship between passive smoking, breast cancer risk and n-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2)].

Invasive breast cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality as well as the most common malignancy among Israeli women. Over 3,800 Israeli women are diagnosed with invasive breast cancer every year and around 3400 women are diagnosed with breast carcinoma in-situ. Although smoking, either active or passive, is a controversial risk factor for breast cancer, cigarette smoking involves exposure to substrates of the NAT2 gene.
