Machine learning (ML) methods are increasingly becoming crucial in genome-wide association studies for identifying key genetic variants or SNPs that statistical methods might overlook. Statistical methods predominantly identify SNPs with notable effect sizes by conducting association tests on individual genetic variants, one at a time, to determine their relationship with the target phenotype. These genetic variants are then used to create polygenic risk scores (PRSs), estimating an individual's genetic risk for complex diseases like cancer or cardiovascular disorders.

Hence, this study evaluates the effect of dexmedetomidine, given as a premedication, on PONV and shivering in patients with opium use who underwent elective supratentorial brain tumor surgeries.
Materials And Methods: In a randomized clinical trial, 100 opium user patients who were candidates for elective supra-tentorial brain tumor surgery under general anesthesia were studied in two groups of 50 patients.
Objective: The present study was aimed to compare the effect of the trained and untrained family presence on their anxiety during invasive procedures in an emergency department.
Methods: In this randomized controlled clinical trial, 90 patients who were candidates for receiving invasive nursing procedures were selected in an emergency department based on the inclusion criteria, and then were equally assigned into 3 groups by the random minimization method: A ("presence of the trained family member group "), B ("presence of the untrained family member group "), and C ("absence and untrained family member group"). The anxiety level was measured before and after implementation of the procedure using the State-Trait Inventory (STAI).
Background: Anal fissure is a chronic condition characterized by painful defecation and rectal bleeding. The aim of this study was to compare injection of botulinum toxin versus surgical sphincterotomy for treatment of chronic anal fissure.
Patients And Methods: In a quasi-experimental trial in a university hospital in Kerman, 50 patients diagnosed with chronic anal fissure received 20 units botulinum toxin (n=25) or underwent lateral internal sphincterotomy (n=25).
