Metal-organic frameworks have received extensive development in the past three decades, which are generally constructed via the reaction between inorganic building units and commercially available or presynthesized organic linkers. However, the presynthesis of organic linkers is usually time-consuming and unsustainable due to multiple-step separation and purification. Therefore, methodology development of a new strategy is fundamentally important for the construction and further exploration of the applications of MOFs.

Silicon carbide-based titanium silicon carbide (SiC-TiSiC) composites with low free alloy content and varying TiSiC contents are fabricated by two-step reactive melt infiltration (RMI) thorough complete reactions between carbon and TiSi alloy in SiC-C preforms obtained. The densities of SiC-C preform are tailored by the carbon morphology and volumetric shrinkage of slurry during the gel-casting process, and pure composites with variable TiSiC volume contents are successfully fabricated with different carbon contents of the preforms. Due to the increased TiSiC content in the obtained composites, both electrical conductivity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness improved progressively, while skin depth exhibited decreased consistently.

Chronic wounds present a major healthcare challenge around the world, and significant hurdles remain in their effective treatment due to limitations in accessible treatment options. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) with multifunctional differentiation and modulatory properties have been delivered to chronic wounds to enhance closure but have limited engraftment when delivered without a scaffold. In this study, hybrid porous hydrogel foams composed of modified polyvinyl alcohol and gelatin were developed that are suitable for rapid and facile MSC encapsulation, fully degradable, and supportive of wound healing.
