Immunogenicity of a hexavalent vaccine co-administered with 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine. Findings from the National Immunisation Programme in The Netherlands.

The hexavalent vaccine Infanrix hexa was introduced into the national childhood vaccination schedule in the Netherlands in 2006. It is offered, concomitantly with pneumococcal vaccine (Prevenar), to children at increased risk of hepatitis B, administered in a 4-dose schedule at 2, 3, 4 and 11 months of age. We assessed the immunogenicity of the HBV component of Infanrix hexa co-administered with Prevenar, and compared pertussis and Hib components in Infanrix hexa with the standard Infanrix-IPV+Hib vaccine.

Synaptotagmin 3 deficiency in T cells impairs recycling of the chemokine receptor CXCR4 and thereby inhibits CXCL12 chemokine-induced migration.

Synaptotagmins regulate vesicle trafficking and fusion of vesicles with membranes - processes that have been implicated in cell migration. We therefore hypothesized that synaptotagmins play a role in T-cell migration. Amongst synaptotagmins 1-11, we found synaptotagmin 3 (SYT3) to be the only one that is expressed in T cells.

Integrin cytoplasmic domain-associated protein-1 (ICAP-1) interacts with the ROCK-I kinase at the plasma membrane.

The integrin cytoplasmic domain-associated protein-1 (ICAP-1) binds via its C-terminal PTB (phosphotyrosine-binding) domain to the cytoplasmic tails of beta1 but not other integrins. Using the yeast two-hybrid assay, we found that ICAP-1 binds the ROCK-I kinase, an effector of the RhoA GTPase. By coimmunoprecipitation we show that ICAP-1 and ROCK form complexes in cells and that ICAP-1 contains two binding sites for ROCK.

A fast histochemical staining method to identify hyaline droplets in the rat kidney.

Hyaline droplet formation in the proximal tubular cells of the kidney commonly occurs under different pathological conditions in experimental animals. In rats, intracytoplasmic hyaline droplet formation is predominantly associated with accumulation of the male rat-specific alpha(2u)-globulin, whereas under other (pathological) conditions (eg, histiocytic sarcoma and chronic progressive nephropathy [CPN]) other proteins are involved. Staining methods to visualize hyaline droplets either need plastic embedded material or time-consuming (immuno)histochemical methods.
