Purpose: Renal and hematological toxicity are side effects and dose-limiting factors of Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT). We aimed to assess the changes in renal and hematological function and associations with survival in neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients treated with PRRT.

Methods: A retrospective cohort of 448 NET patients treated with either Lu-DOTATATE or Y-DOTATOC were followed for changes of renal and hematological function.

Ana o 3 is an immuno-dominant cashew nut allergen. Four monoclonal antibodies to Ana o 3 (2H5, 6B9C1, 19C9A2, and 5B7F8) were characterized by ELISA and in silico modeling. The 2H5 antibody was the only antibody specific for cashew nut extract.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest cancer type with a five-year survival rate of less than 9%. Detection of tumor margins plays an essential role in the success of surgical resection. However, histopathological assessment is time-consuming, expensive, and labor-intensive.

Pulmonary neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) represent a minority of lung cancers and vary from slower growing pulmonary carcinoid (PC) tumors to aggressive small cell lung cancer (SCLC). While SCLC can account for up to 15% of lung cancer, PCs are uncommon and represent about 2% of lung cancers. Surgical resection is the standard of care for early-stage PCs and should also be considered in early stage large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) and SCLC.

Food allergies represent a substantial medical liability and preventing accidental exposure to food allergens requires constant attention. Allergic reaction to cashew nuts is frequently serious, and the small 2S albumin, Ana o 3, is an immuno-dominant cashew allergen. Ana o 3 is composed of five alpha helices, contains 2 subunits linked by cysteine disulfide bonds, and remains soluble even after extensive heating of cashew nuts.

Cockroach allergens can lead to serious allergy and asthma symptoms. Termites are evolutionarily related to cockroaches, cohabitate in human dwellings, and represent an increasing pest problem in the United States. The Formosan subterranean termite (Coptotermes formosanus) is one of the most common species in the southern United States.

Raw and roasted cashew nut extracts were evaluated for protein modifications by mass spectrometry. Independent modifications on the Arg-111 residue of Ana o 3 were observed in roasted but not raw cashew nuts. The mass changes of 72.

Cashew nuts are an increasingly common cause of food allergy. We compare the soluble protein profile of cashew nuts following heating. SDS-PAGE indicate that heating can alter the solubility of cashew nut proteins.

During embryogenesis, muscle and bone develop in close temporal and spatial proximity. We show that Indian Hedgehog, a bone-derived signaling molecule, participates in growth of skeletal muscle. In Ihh(-/-) embryos, skeletal muscle development appears abnormal at embryonic day 14.

Pharmacological activators of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPARgamma) inhibit growth of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines in vitro and in xenograft models. Because these agents engage off-target pathways, we have assessed the effects of PPARgamma by overexpressing the protein in NSCLC cells. We reported previously that increased PPARgamma inhibits transformed growth and invasiveness and promotes epithelial differentiation in a panel of NSCLC expressing oncogenic K-Ras.

The Wnt signaling pathway is critical in normal development, and mutation of specific components is frequently observed in carcinomas of diverse origins. However, the potential involvement of this pathway in lung tumorigenesis has not been established. In this study, analysis of multiple Wnt mRNAs in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines and primary lung tumors revealed markedly decreased Wnt-7a expression compared with normal short-term bronchial epithelial cell lines and normal uninvolved lung tissue.

Pharmacological activators of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR(gamma)) have been shown to inhibit growth of lung tumors largely through growth inhibition and induction of apopotosis. However, since many of these agents engage other effectors, the role of (PPAR(gamma) in lung tumorigenesis remains poorly defined. To specifically examine PPAR(gamma)-mediated events, non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells overexpressing PPAR(gamma) were established.

The proliferation, differentiation, and fusion of a small number of myogenic precursor cells must be precisely regulated during development to ensure the proper size, organization, and function of the limb musculature. We have examined the role of Sonic hedgehog (Shh) in these processes by both augmentation and inhibition of the Shh-mediated signaling pathway. Our data show that Shh regulates muscle development by repressing the terminal differentiation of early myogenic precursor cells and does not function as a myoblast mitogen.
