Through his/her knowledge of cranio-facial growth, the orthodontist plays a leading role within the multidisciplinary team that tracks and treats sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in children. Correction of craniofacial risk factors (maxillary deficiency and retrognathia) is commonly used by practitioners alongside orthodontic treatment such as OMA and RME in the optimal conditions afforded by childhood growth. Myofunctional therapies are performed to restore correct stomatognathic function and play a central role in the management of SDB in children.
