Objective: Pain phenotypes (PP) have been identified across different stages of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and understanding the stability of PPs prior to the development of symptomatic KOA can help to inform preventative strategies. We aimed to identify PPs and their transitions in people without radiographic KOA and profile participant characteristics.
Design: Data from 5 - (T1), 7- (T2) and 12-year (T3) visits from the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study (MOST) were used.
Previous studies have investigated the association of gender roles with pain outcomes in healthy individuals. However, little is known about this association in those with musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders. Therefore, this mixed-methods systematic review aimed to investigate the association of sociocultural gender roles on pain outcomes in adults with MSK disorders.

Physiotherapists (PTs) play a crucial role in LBP management; however, their attitudes and beliefs towards LBP were not reviewed in detail.
Objective: This systematic review aims to summarise the attitudes and beliefs of PTs towards LBP and the factors influencing them.
Objectives: First, we explored the association between Gender Role Expectations of Pain (GREP), and psychophysical measures of sensitization in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Second, we explored whether the association differed by level of GREP items (high vs low scores).
Design: We conducted secondary analyses of a cohort study.
Psychological factors play an essential role in the maintenance of various chronic pain states, with fear avoidance beliefs contributing to significant functional limitation and disability in chronic spinal pain. Fear avoidance behaviors are typically managed with cognitive-behavioral interventions such as graded exposure to feared movements and graded activity programs. However, attempts to make patients with high pain-related fear perform painful actions using graded exposure therapy can be very challenging.

Background And Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee joint results in chronic pain and functional decline among older adults. Hip muscle weakness has been observed in persons with knee OA and is claimed to increase the medial compartment loading on the knee joint. Although individual studies are available, no review has yet integrated the literature on the benefits of hip muscle strengthening for persons with knee OA.
