Background: The ultrastructure of the tendon-bone interface (TBI) is inherently complex. After arthroscopic reconstruction, it is often replaced by disorganized scar tissue, which increases the risk of re-tearing.Stem cell therapies offer a promising approach to regenerate the original tissue structure and enhance the healing environment.

Introduction: The residual black wolfberry fruit (RBWF) is rich in nutrients and contains a diverse range of active substances, which may offer a viable alternative to antibiotics. This experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of varying levels of RBWF on the growth performance and rumen microorganisms of fattening sheep, and to quantify its economic benefits.

Methods: In this experiment, 40 three-month-old and male Duolang sheep with an average weight of 29.

Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive tumor, which is often associated with a poor clinical prognosis and resistance to conventional chemotherapy. Therefore, there is a need to identify new therapeutic markers for pancreatic cancer. Although KIN17 is a highly expressed DNA‑ and RNA‑binding protein in a number of types of human cancer, its role in pancreatic cancer development, especially in relation to progression, is currently unknown.

Objectives: To analyze the influence of daily activity-related factors associated with COVID-19 infection on the occurrence of acute angle closure (AAC).

Methods: A multicenter hospital-based study was conducted at 23 ophthalmic centers in 17 provincial-level regions across China to recruit patients with confirmed AAC during the post-lockdown time of COVID-19 (P-TOC) from Dec 7, 2022, to Jan 17, 2023, and three lockdown time of COVID-19 (TOC) periods, which included the TOC-2022 (Sep 7, 2022 - Dec 6, 2022), TOC-2021(Sep 7, 2021 - Jan 6, 2022) and TOC-2020 (Sep 7, 2020 - Jan 6, 2021). Patient information, including demographic, a questionnaire on daily activity changes during the AAC period, COVID-19 history, and eye examination results, was collected.

Background: Chromosome abnormalities are a leading cause of conception failure and pregnancy loss. While traditional cytogenetics technologies like karyotyping have been helpful in identifying structural variations (SVs), they face challenges in detecting complex rearrangements and cryptic structures. In this study, we developed a new method called chromosome conformation based karyotyping (C-MoKa) to comprehensively detect different types of chromosomal abnormalities in patients with conception failure and pregnancy loss.

Microplastic (MP) pollution prevalent in freshwater environments and jeopardizes the organisms living there. Dozens of studies have been conducted to investigate the harmful effects of microplastics on organisms. However, the most diverse and sensitive aquatic insects are often overlooked, also there is a lack of a comprehensive research exploring the toxicity of microplastics.

The role of autophagy in cholangiocarcinogenesis and its development is intricate. Autophagy has a dual role in cholangiocarcinoma, and understanding the function and mechanism of autophagy in cholangiocarcinoma is pivotal in guiding therapeutic approaches to its treatment in clinical settings. Recent studies have revealed that autophagy is involved in the complex biological behavior of cholangiocarcinoma.

This study investigated the antioxidant potential of sugarcane vinegar, an emerging functional food, by analyzing its polyphenols and underlying molecular mechanisms that intervene in oxidative stress. Using a 1,1-diphenyl-2-trinitrophenylhydrazine (DPPH) assay combined with UPLC-MS analysis, six key polyphenols were identified: chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, luteolin, protocatechuic acid, and syringic acid. These compounds showed a positive correlation with antioxidant capacity.

Article Synopsis
  • This study analyzed the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy (US-FNAB) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in diagnosing different-sized thyroid nodules in 110 patients.
  • CEUS showed higher sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy compared to US-FNAB for nodules under 1 cm, particularly for those smaller than 0.5 cm, where it achieved 100% sensitivity.
  • The findings suggest that CEUS is recommended for accurately diagnosing and evaluating thyroid nodules, especially those less than 1 cm in diameter, and particularly for nodules ≤0.5 cm.
