Background: In Asia, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) accounts for more than 90% of esophageal cancer cases and can be treated with minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE); however, MIE has certain technical limitations in resecting lymph nodes. The advantages of robot-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) surgery, such as the high-definition three-dimensional (3D) vision and the presence of the EndoWrist, facilitates movement in challenging anatomical regions. However, few studies have compared the postoperative outcomes between RAMIE with MIE for the lymph node dissection of patients with ESCC.

Background: Revascularization and restoration of normal pulp-dentin complex are important for tissue-engineered pulp regeneration. Recently, a unique periodontal tip-like endothelial cells subtype (POTCs) specialized to dentinogenesis was identified. We have confirmed that TPPU, a soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitor targeting epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) metabolism, promotes bone growth and regeneration by angiogenesis and osteogenesis coupling.

Large amounts of lignin are produced as a by-product of paper pulping, resulting in a tremendous waste of natural resources with potential uses across various areas. To achieve the value-added utilization of agricultural waste and lignin, we developed a method for the fabrication of a lignin structure-designed hydrophobic film (LSHF) directly through solvent/anti-solvent self-assembly (acetic acid aqueous solution/n-hexane) and auto-adhesion of acetic acid lignin (AL) on the surface of a lignocellulose film (LCF). As the morphology structure revealed, the LSHF had a rough surface composed of lignin colloidal spheres, which significantly improved the water contact angle (WCA) from ~80° to ~130°.

Background: Activated Cdc42-associated kinase 1 (ACK1) is a promising druggable target for cancer, but its inhibitors only showed moderate effects in clinical trials. The study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms and improve the antitumor efficacy of ACK1 inhibitors.

Methods: RNA-seq was performed to determine the downstream pathways of ACK.

The family with sequence similarity 72 Member A (FAM72A) is overexpressed in several types of cancer. However, its contributions to tumorigenesis remain largely unknown. Based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, FAM72A was upregulated across 33 types of cancer.

Background: CC chemokine receptor 9 (CCR9), an organ-specific chemokine receptor, interacts with its exclusive ligand CCL25 to promote tumor proliferation and metastasis. However, the effect of CCR9 on salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) malignant behavior remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the specific molecular mechanism by which CCR9/CCL25 modulates malignant progression in SACC.

Feshbach resonances in D + HD(v = 1, j = 0) reaction are studied by using the time-independent quantum method. The integral cross section (ICS) results present three Feshbach resonance peaks, which are different from H + HD(v = 1, j = 0) reaction dominated by only one peak. These resonances are attributed to coupling with adiabatic effective potentials of D + HD(v = 1, j = 1) reaction, and the most obvious peak is contributed by J = 1 at 83.

Background: Bone tissue engineering is a new concept bringing hope for the repair of large bone defects, which remains a major clinical challenge. The formation of vascularized bone is key for bone tissue engineering. Growth of specialized blood vessels termed type H is associated with bone formation.

The present study investigates the properties and use as wound-dressing materials of hydrogels made of negatively charged 3-sulfopropyl methacrylate (SA) and positively charged [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium (TMA) to form poly(SA-co-TMA) gels with/without a charge bias. Their actual chemical compositions were ascertained by XPS which revealed a fair control of the final gel composition obtained from the initial molar ratio in the reaction solution. Zeta potential measurements confirmed the controlled charge bias on which swelling ratio was found to strongly depend, i.
