Objective: Demonstrate the superiority of percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia (PTN) compared to trigeminal microvascular decompression (MVD).
Methods: Clinical data, including immediate, short-term, and long-term pain relief, complications, duration of the operation, and postoperative hospital stay, were retrospectively analyzed for 114 patients diagnosed with PTN who were treated with either PBC or MVD between January 2018 and December 2021.
Results: There were no statistically significant differences observed in the pain relief rates between the two surgical methods at 24 h postoperatively (MVD: 91.
Background: Normal weight obesity (NWO) is characterized by excess body fat in individuals with normal body mass index (BMI). This study aimed to investigate gut microbiota alterations in NWO and their potential associations with cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) risk in two independent cohorts.
Methods: Our NWO-CMD mortality analysis included 168 099 adults with normal BMI from two large open-access databases, while our NWO-gut microbiota study involved 5467 adults with normal BMI from two independent cohorts: the WELL-China cohort and the Lanxi cohort.
High-solid anaerobic digestion (HSAD) is a promising technology for treating livestock manure and agricultural waste; however, the wide application has been limited due to homogenization problems. This study established a novel HSAD system by integrating liquid and biogas recirculation (R), aiming to enhance the biogas conversion efficiency of high-solid substrates at low costs. Results showed that the highest methane yield was 357 mL/gVS in the novel HSAD system (R), 30.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the relationships among nut consumption, gut microbiota, and body fat distribution.
Methods: We studied 2255 Chinese adults in the Lanxi Cohort living in urban areas in Lanxi City, China. Fat distribution was assessed by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, and nut consumption was assessed using food frequency questionnaires.
Higher intakes of individual antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, and E have been linked to mortality in the general population, but the association of overall antioxidant intake with mortality especially in depressed adults remains unclear. We aimed to investigate whether the dietary overall antioxidant intake is associated with all-cause and cause-specific mortality among depressed adults. This study included 3051 US adults with depression, who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2005 to 2018.

One such example is deletion at Xq22.2, previously associated with a neurodevelopmental disorder which has more recently been found to be caused by de novo loss-of-function variants in TCEAL1.

Studies have shown that conductive biomaterials can restore cardiac conduction, but cannot facilitate tissue regeneration. This study aims to add regenerative capabilities to the conductive biomaterial by incorporating human endometrial mesenchymal stem cell (hEMSC)-derived exosomes (hEMSC-Exo) into poly-pyrrole-chitosan (PPY-CHI), to yield an injectable hydrogel that can effectively treat MI.

The aim of this article is to review the application progress of proteomics technology in brain injury research in recent years, point out the current problems that need to be overcome, and explore the application prospects of proteomics analysis in brain injury. This study also aims to retrieve all literature on brain injury and proteomics and summarize it. Through searching and screening, the widespread application of proteomics technology in the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the use of a large number of TBI biomarkers were discovered.

Whole genome sequencing identified bi-allelic truncating variants in AMFR, encoding a RING-H2 finger E3 ubiquitin ligase anchored at the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), in two previously genetically unexplained HSP-affected siblings. Subsequently, international collaboration recognized additional HSP-affected individuals with similar bi-allelic truncating AMFR variants, resulting in a cohort of 20 individuals from 8 unrelated, consanguineous families.

Methods: In a community-based study of 4144 participants with abdominal ultrasound scan in Hangzhou, China, we sampled 928 (617 [66.5%] females, mean age: 56 years ± 13 [standard deviation]) participants (2 images per participant) to develop and validate DLS, a two-section neural network (2S-NNet).

Objective: To analyze the relationship between serum miR-34a level and thrombocytopenia after chemotherapy in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
Methods: A total of 69 eligible DLBCL patients who received chemotherapy in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2020 were prospectively included as the research subjects, all patients received R-CHOP 21 regimen (rituximab + cyclophosphamide + adriamycin + vincristine + prednisone) for chemotherapy, 3 weeks was 1 cycle, and 2 cycles of chemotherapy were used. The patients were divided into a reduction group and a non reduction group according to whether there was thrombocytopenia after chemotherapy, the general data and laboratory indexes of the two groups were investigated and compared, the relationship between serum miR-34a before chemotherapy and thrombocytopenia after chemotherapy in patients was analyzed.

Organophosphate ester flame retardants (OPFRs) are widely prevalent in the environment and are of significant concern because of their potential toxicity to human health and wildlife. In this study, the concentration, frequency, spatial distribution, potential sources, and ecological risks of OPFRs in sediments from the Jiulong River estuary and the adjacent western Taiwan Strait were investigated. Concentrations of four of the five studied OPFRs were between
The precise control of growth and maintenance of the retinal ganglion cell (RGC) dendrite arborization is critical for normal visual functions in mammals. However, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we find that the -methyladenosine (mA) reader YTHDF2 is highly expressed in the mouse RGCs.

Rapid changes in the stomatal aperture are accompanied by adjustment of vacuole volume and morphology in guard cells (GCs). In Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) leaf epidermis, stomatal development undergoes a cell-fate transition including four stomatal lineage cells: meristemoid, guard mother cell, young GC, and GC.

Objective: To investigate the effect and molecular mechanism of miR-142-3p to the proliferation, cycle and apoptosis of acute B lymphocytic leukemia (B-ALL) cells by regulating the homeobox gene 5 (HOXA5) expression.
Methods: Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression levels of miR-142-3p and HOXA5 in human B-ALL cell Nalm6 cell line and human B lymphoblast Hmy2-cir cells. Nalm6 was transfected by using liposome transfection technology, miR-142-3p mimic, pcDNA-HOXA5 overexpression plasmid, miR-142-3p mimic+pcDNA-HOXA5 overexpression plasmid, and control.
Polymorphisms of inflammation-related genes have been found to be associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) or some of its subtypes, but only a few relevant data have been reported in China. In this study, the Snapshot method was used to assess genetic variation; a total of 14 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for 6 inflammatory factors in 157 NHL cases (64 Uygur ethnic subjects, 93 Han Chinese) and 435 controls (231 Uygur and 204 Han Chinese) were studied from the Xinjiang province of China. Haplotype distribution was estimated using PHASE 2.
