Chylothorax after spinal fusion surgery: A case report and literature review.

Chylothorax is reported as a postoperative complication, mainly in the field of thoracic surgery, but there are only 14 reports in the field of spinal surgery. A 64-year-old woman underwent spinal fusion surgery by the anterior and posterior approach for her scoliosis. She developed leg edema and right pleural effusion 2 months after the surgery.

Nuclear localization of Lyn tyrosine kinase mediated by inhibition of its kinase activity.

Src-family kinases, cytoplasmic enzymes that participate in various signaling events, are found at not only the plasma membrane but also subcellular compartments, such as the nucleus, the Golgi apparatus and late endosomes/lysosomes. Lyn, a member of the Src-family kinases, is known to play a role in DNA damage response and cell cycle control in the nucleus. However, it is still unclear how the localization of Lyn to the nucleus is regulated.

Protein C deficiency in a family with thromboembolism and identified gene mutations.

Protein C is the central component of the major anti-thrombotic regulatory system, and individuals with hereditary protein C deficiency tend to have an increased risk of thromboembolism. During the last several years, mutations causing protein C deficiency have been identified. In the present study, we report familial cases with three nucleotide substitutions: One is a missense mutation Arg169Trp, which was previously reported.
