Objectives: The present study investigated the relationship between bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and intra-amniotic infection with species.
Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective cohort study. Patients with singleton pregnancies who underwent inpatient management at our department for preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), preterm labor, cervical insufficiency, and asymptomatic cervical shortening at 22-33 gestational weeks were included.
Aim: To investigate the natural history of fetal ovarian cysts and elucidate the risk factors for postnatal adverse outcomes in fetal ovarian cysts.
Methods: The study subjects were 18 cases with ovarian cysts prenatally diagnosed using ultrasonography at our hospital between 2007 and 2020. The subjects were classified by cyst characteristics according to echogenic patterns [simple cyst (S) and complex cyst (C)], changes in echogenic patterns (S-to-S, S-to-C, and C-to-C), and diameters (<40 and ≥ 40 mm).
Objective: Intra-amniotic infections increase the risk of preterm delivery and short- and long-term fetal morbidity; however, no consensus exists on the choice of antimicrobial agents as treatment for these infections. We aimed to examine the efficacy of intravenous administration of sulbactam/ampicillin (SBT/ABPC) and azithromycin (AZM) for intra-amniotic infection in patients with preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM).
Methods: This study followed a single-centered retrospective cohort design.
Introduction: We aimed to use two indices, amniotic fluid interleukin-6 (IL-6) concentration at diagnosis and diagnosis-to-delivery interval, to clarify the frequencies of maternal inflammatory response (MIR) and fetal inflammatory response (FIR) in the placenta of patients with intra-amniotic infection and intra-amniotic inflammation (IAI).
Methods: This is a single-center retrospective cohort study. From August 2014 to April 2020, participants were diagnosed with IAI with or without microbial invasion of the amniotic cavity (MIAC) using amniocentesis.
This study classifies fetal inflammatory response syndrome (FIRS) based on the presence or absence of maternal-fetal inflammation in the placenta and clarifies the association of FIRS with neonatal morbidities. Women (330) who delivered at gestational ages of 22w0d-33w6d were enrolled and grouped into four based on FIRS and maternal/fetal inflammatory response (MIR/FIR) statuses: Group A: without FIRS and MIR/FIR (reference group); Group B: MIR/FIR alone; Group C: FIRS and MIR/FIR; and Group D: FIRS without MIR/FIR. The associations between bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), adverse neonatal outcomes, extremely low gestational age and Groups B, C, and D were investigated after adjustment for potential confounders.

Materials And Methods: The subjects were 3,741 women with singleton pregnancies who delivered at ≥ 22 weeks' gestation in Kurume University Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital, Kurume, Japan from January 2013 to December 2015.
The quality of prenatal diagnosis of fetal abnormalities has advanced with improved resolution of ultrasound imaging and cytogenetic/molecular analysis. In this article, we briefly review the history of diagnosing fetal abnormalities and the current status of prenatal diagnosis during the first trimester (up to the first 14 weeks' gestation), focusing especially on fetal malformations and chromosomal abnormalities. As for detectable morphological abnormalities, roughly half of all major structural anomalies including those in the central nervous system, cardiovascular system and gastrointestinal system can be detected, if not definitely diagnosed.

Blood flow profiles of the myometrium, decidua and placental villous vessels (VV) were described using superb microvascular imaging (SMI) at 35 weeks' gestation. Images showed no decidual blood flow underneath the placenta sitting on a thin myometrium and sparse VV distribution and non-visualization of peripheral VV flow.

Placenta previa accreta was diagnosed from missing decidual flow signals using superb microvascular imaging (SMI). At 31 weeks' gestation, B-mode ultrasonography showed that the placenta was attached to the anterior uterine segment, extending over the internal cervical os.

Case Report: A 39-year-old Japanese pregnant woman was referred because of polyhydramnios at 29 weeks' gestation. Conventional ultrasonography showed a hypoplastic mandible on the sagittal section of fetal head.
Background This study aimed to analyze age-related changes in shear wave speed (SWS) of the normal uterine cervix. Methods We studied 362 women with a normal singleton pregnancy at 12-35 weeks' gestation. View Article and Find Full Text PDFAim: We aimed to clarify the usefulness of procalcitonin (PCT) in the evaluation of histological chorioamnionitis (CAM) and in the prediction of neonatal and infantile outcomes as a reference of interleukin-6 (IL-6).
Methods: Subjects were 36 singleton pregnant women delivered at 22-37 weeks' gestation due to threatened premature delivery and/or preterm premature rupture of membranes. Cases were classified into the CAM and non-CAM groups, according to Blanc's criteria.
This study was designed to investigate the clinical predictors of abnormal glucose tolerance 5-7 weeks after delivery. Subjects were 155 women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) between October 2005 and September 2013 whose pregnancy and delivery were managed at our center. Subjects were divided into a normal glucose tolerance group (NGT; n = 113), or abnormal glucose tolerance group (AGT; n = 42) with borderline or overt diabetes mellitus, based on 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (75 gOGTT) results 5-7 weeks after delivery.

Purpose: We evaluated the management of transcatheter arterial embolization for postpartum hemorrhage caused by vaginal laceration.
Materials And Methods: We reviewed seven cases of patients (mean age 30.9 years; range 27-35) with intractable hemorrhages and pelvic hematomas caused by vaginal lacerations, who underwent superselective transcatheter arterial embolization from January 2008 to July 2014.
The aim of this study was to identify risk factors to allow us to detect patients at high risk of requiring insulin therapy, among Japanese pregnant women with one abnormal value (OAV) on a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (75-g OGTT). A total of 118 pregnant women with OAV on a previous 75-g OGTT between 1997 and 2010 were studied. We identified the factors which can predict patients at high risk of requiring insulin therapy among Japanese pregnant women with OAV, by comparing severe abnormal glucose tolerance (insulin treatment; n=17) with mild glucose tolerance patients (diet only; n=101).
