Software-Defined Networking (SDN), which is used in Industrial Internet of Things, uses a controller as its "network brain" located at the control plane. This uniquely distinguishes it from the traditional networking paradigms because it provides a global view of the entire network. In SDN, the controller can become a single point of failure, which may cause the whole network service to be compromised.

In this study, we present our findings from investigating the use of a machine learning (ML) technique to improve the performance of Quasi-Yagi-Uda antennas operating in the n78 band for 5G applications. This research study investigates several techniques, such as simulation, measurement, and an RLC equivalent circuit model, to evaluate the performance of an antenna. In this investigation, the CST modelling tools are used to develop a high-gain, low-return-loss Yagi-Uda antenna for the 5G communication system.

Best practices for performing freeze dryer equipment qualification are recommended, focusing on identifying methods to quantify shelf thermal uniformity (also known as "shelf surface uniformity"), equipment capability, and performance metrics of the freeze dryer essential to the pharmaceutical Quality by Design paradigm. Specific guidelines for performing shelf temperature mapping, freeze dryer equipment limit testing (the capability curve), and condenser performance metrics have been provided. Concerning shelf temperature mapping and equipment capability measurements, the importance of paying attention to the test setup and the use of appropriate testing tools are stressed.

Over the past several years, mobile learning concepts have changed the way people perceived on mobile devices and technology in the learning environment. In earlier days, mobile devices were used mainly for communication purposes. Later, with many new advanced features of mobile devices, they have opened the opportunity for individuals to use them as mediated technology in learning.

Fifth generation (5G) technology aims to provide high peak data rates, increased bandwidth, and supports a 1 millisecond roundtrip latency at millimeter wave (mmWave). However, higher frequency bands in mmWave comes with challenges including poor propagation characteristics and lossy structure. The beamforming Butler matrix (BM) is an alternative design intended to overcome these limitations by controlling the phase and amplitude of the signal, which reduces the path loss and penetration losses.

Present study concerns the key thermoluminescence (TL) properties of photonic crystal fibres (PCFs), seeking development of alternatively structured TL materials that are able to offer a advantages over existing passive dosimeters. In terms of their internal structure and light guiding properties the PCFs, collapsed and structured, differ significantly from that of conventional optical fibres. To investigate the dosimetric parameters of the PCFs use was made of a linear accelerator producing a 6 MV photon beam, delivering doses ranging from 0.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the geotechnical behavior of coastal soil from Bagan Lalang, focusing on treatments with lime, cement, and rice husk ash (RHA) to create an eco-friendly and affordable mixture.
  • Laboratory tests assessed the physical and mechanical properties of the treated soil, showing significant enhancements in shear strength and stability with LRHA mixtures, particularly at a 1:2 ratio with 8% lime content.
  • Results indicated that curing time positively affected cohesion and internal friction angle, with cured samples showing substantial strength improvements over time, especially at 90 days compared to 7 days.

In some parts of tropical Africa, termite mound locations are traditionally used to site groundwater structures mainly in the form of hand-dug wells with high success rates. However, the scientific rationale behind the use of mounds as prospective sites for locating groundwater structures has not been thoroughly investigated. In this paper, locations and structural features of termite mounds were mapped with the aim of determining the aquifer potential beneath termite mounds and comparing the same with adjacent areas, 10 m away.

Mode-locked fiber laser incorporating a saturable absorber is an attractive configuration due to its stability and simple structure. In this work, we demonstrate a dual-wavelength passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser employing a graphene/polymethyl-methacrylate saturable absorber. A laser resonator is developed based on dual cavity architecture with unidirectional signal oscillation, which is connected by a fiber branch sharing a common gain medium and saturable absorber.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from human umbilical cord (UC) have been considered as an important tool for treating various malignancies, tissue repair and organ regeneration. Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) are better alternative to MSCs that derived from bone marrow (BM-MSCs) as they are regarded as medical waste with little ethical concern for research and easily culture-expanded. In this present study, the foetal distal end of human UC was utilised to generate MSC by explant method.

Grating inscription in a Ga-doped silica core fiber (~5 wt. % Ga) has been demonstrated using ArF (193 nm) and KrF (248 nm) excimer lasers. In a comparative study with germanosilicate fiber with similar Ge concentration, a Ga-doped silica core fiber shows greater photosensitivity to an ArF excimer laser due to the higher absorbance in the region of 190-195 nm.

In regard to thermoluminescence (TL) applied to dosimetry, in recent times a number of researchers have explored the role of optical fibers for radiation detection and measurement. Many of the studies have focused on the specific dopant concentration, the type of dopant and the fiber core diameter, all key dependencies in producing significant increase in the sensitivity of such fibers. At doses of less than 1 Gy none of these investigations have addressed the relationship between dose response and TL glow peak behavior of erbium (Er)-doped silica cylindrical fibers (CF).
