Hypertrophic scar (HS) is a common fibroproliferative disorders with no fully effective treatments. The conversion of fibroblasts to myofibroblasts is known to play a critical role in HS formation, making it essential to identify molecules that promote myofibroblast dedifferentiation and to elucidate their underlying mechanisms. In this study, we used comparative transcriptomics and single-cell sequencing to identify key molecules and pathways that mediate fibrosis and myofibroblast transdifferentiation.

Biodegradations of nonylphenol (NP), nonylphenol monoethoxylate (NPEO1) and nonylphenol diethoxylates (NPEO2) followed the first-order kinetics, and the degradation rates were enhanced when the temperature was increased. Spiked NP, NPEO1 and NPEO2 (with the concentration of 100, 50 and 100 mg x kg(-1), respectively) could be degraded completely in 45 days at the temperature of 30 degrees C.

The environmental fate of nonylphenoxy carboxylates (NPECs), a representative class of aerobic biodegradation intermediates of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs), is still unclear. In this study, two NPEC mixtures with the ethoxy chain units ranging from 2 to 9 and from 5 to 18, respectively, were synthesized and applied for studying their aerobic biodegradation behaviors in a modified OECD 301 biodegradation test using two kinds of microcosms, a fresh secondary effluent from a sewage treatment plant and a NPEOs enriched consortium. The determination of NPECs and their related compounds were performed by LC/MS.
