Cardiac fibrosis is featured cardiac fibroblast activation and extracellular matrix accumulation. Ac4C acetylation is an important epigenetic regulation of RNAs that has been recently discovered, and it is solely carried out by NAT10, the exclusive enzyme used for the modification. However, the potential regulatory mechanisms of ac4C acetylation in myocardial fibrosis following myocardial infarction remain poorly understood.

Article Synopsis
  • Cardiac remodeling contributes to heart failure and is linked to inflammation, oxidative stress, and cell death, prompting research into potential treatments like carnosol, a rosemary extract with health benefits.
  • In experiments involving mice and rat heart cells, carnosol significantly reduced heart muscle thickening and fibrosis, improved heart function, and decreased the risk of life-threatening heart rhythms.
  • The protective effects of carnosol are driven by the Sirt1/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic intervention for heart failure and related complications.

Cardiac dysfunction and arrhythmia are severe complications of sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy and are associated with an increased risk of morbidity and mortality. Currently, the precise mechanism for sepsis-induced myocardial damage remains unclear. Astilbin, a flavonoid, is reported to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and antiapoptotic properties.

Cardiac remodeling is a common consequence of cardiovascular diseases and is closely associated with oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis. Germacrone, a bioactive compound present in Rhizoma curcuma, has been shown to possess anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of germacrone against cardiac remodeling.

Cardiac remodeling is the final stage of almost all cardiovascular diseases, leading to heart failure and arrhythmias. However, the pathogenesis of cardiac remodeling is not fully understood, and specific treatment schemes are currently unavailable. Curcumol is a bioactive sesquiterpenoid that has anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and anti-fibrotic properties.

The drug-coated balloon (DCB) is an emerging percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) device that delivers drugs to diseased vessels to decrease the rate of vascular stenosis. Recent clinical studies have demonstrated that DCBs tend to have both good safety and efficacy profiles, leading to extended application indications in the clinic, including in-stent restenosis (ISR) for metal stents such as drug-eluting stents (DESs), small vascular disease, bifurcation disease, large vascular disease, acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and high bleeding risk. However, some previous clinical data have suggested that DCBs performed less effectively than DESs.

Previous studies suggest that autonomic dysfunction is associated with disease severity in acute phase in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, the association between autonomic dysfunction and pulmonary sequelae in patients with COVID-19 is unknown. We conducted a prospective study to investigate the association between autonomic dysfunction and pulmonary sequelae in patients with COVID-19 discharged for 6 months.
