Background: Palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) is a chronic pustular dermatosis on the palms and soles. Dental focal infections are known as the major worsening factor for PPP. Recent our study of oral microbiome demonstrated dysbiosis in PPP patients.

Desmoglein (DSG) 3 is overexpressed in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor cetuximab is widely used for OSCC treatment. Several evidences suggest a correlation between DSG3 and EGFR in epidermal keratinocytes.
