Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on synthesizing silver nanoparticles (NP) using two different methods: an aqueous leaf extract and citrate ions as a stabilizer, then evaluated their anticancer properties and cytotoxicity in a lab setting.
  • The silver NPs made with the leaf extract were spherical and ranged in size from 15 to 45 nm, showing a reduction in cell viability across various cell types, with a specific inhibitory concentration (IC) identified in Chang liver cells.
  • Both types of nanoparticles were found to lower reactive oxygen species production and caspase-3 activity, indicating their potential for anticancer use; however, further research is necessary to understand their exact cell death mechanisms, which likely differ from typical apoptosis.

Chagas disease or American trypanosomiasis is a worldwide public health problem. In this work, we evaluated 26 new propyl and isopropyl quinoxaline-7-carboxylate 1,4-di-N-oxide derivatives as potential trypanocidal agents. Additionally, molecular docking and enzymatic assays on trypanothione reductase (TR) were performed to provide a basis for their potential mechanism of action.
