During the COVID-19 outbreak, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and N-nitrosomorpholine (NMOR) and their specific precursors (N,N-dimethylformamide [DMF] for NDMA and morpholine [MOR] for NMOR) were widely detected in sewerage systems of an urban area, in which chlorine-containing disinfectants were discharged with effluent of hospitals, etc. However, little is known about the effect of chlorine influx on formation and distribution of NDMA and NMOR in sewer systems in a sudden major public health event. We investigated the spatiotemporal patterns of NDMA, NMOR, DMF and MOR in influents of sewage treatment plants (STPs), as well as its upstream sewer sites during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: While previous studies have suggested a potential link between greenspace and semen quality, the effect of greenspace exposure on sperm kinematics, as well as the impact of greenspace estimation scales, remains underexplored.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the association between greenspace exposure and sperm kinematics, and to determine whether this relationship varies across different greenspace estimation scales.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective longitudinal study of 5025 semen measurements from 1674 sperm donors recruited by the Sichuan Provincial Human Sperm Bank (SHSB) between June 2019 and December 2021.

-altered mesenchymal tumors represent a rare category of soft tissue tumors that have recently been incorporated into the classification of head and neck soft tissue tumors in the fifth edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) classification. However, their precise nature remains undefined, and they have yet to be assigned an ICD code. These tumors are predominantly located in the head and neck region and display distinctive pathological morphology and molecular characteristics.

Purpose: Cervical cancer (CC), a common female malignancy, has been linked to alterations in DNA methylation. This study employed an integrated "dry-wet lab" strategy combining bioinformatics, machine learning, and experimental validation to identify novel methylation biomarkers for CC.

Methods: Methylome and transcriptome data from the TCGA and GEO cohorts (n=349 discovery, n=414 validation) were analyzed to identify differentially methylated CpGs.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common gynecological disease caused by pathological defects, lesions, or mechanical weakening of the support structures of the pelvic floor. However, its pathogenesis is unclear. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are covalently closed, endogenous biomolecules, which are thought to play an important role on skeletal muscle development by regulating gene expression.

Dental pulp stem cells hold significant prospects for tooth regeneration and repair. However, a comprehensive understanding of the molecular differences between dental pulp stem cells (DPSC, from permanent teeth) and stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED, from deciduous teeth) remains elusive, which is crucial for optimizing their therapeutic potential. To address this gap, we employed a novel data-independent acquisition (DIA) proteomics approach to compare the protein expression profiles of DPSC and SHED.

As an abundant renewable natural material, starch has attracted unprecedented interest in the biomedical field. Carboxylated starch particles have been investigated for topical hemostasis, but the powder may not provide physical protection or support for wounds. Here, we prepared macroporous cryogel sponges of methacrylated carboxymethyl starch (CM-ST-MA) containing a covalent and a calcium ionic double network.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting offers an ideal strategy for the development of clean and renewable energy. However, its practical implementation is often inhibited by the high recombination rate of photogenerated charge carriers and the instability of photoanodes. Introducing defect engineering (such as oxygen vacancies) and constructing internal electric field-modulated Z-scheme heteronanostructures (HNs) can be considered as effective approaches to overcome these obstacles.

Background: To address the health inequity caused by decentralized management, China has introduced a provincial pooling system for urban employees' basic medical insurance. This paper proposes a research framework to evaluate similar policies in different contexts. This paper adopts a mixed-methods approach to more comprehensively and precisely capture the causal effects of the policy.

Objective: Little is known about the role of timing of physical activity in female reproductive disorders. These disorders include polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB), endometriosis, infertility, and pregnancy-related disorders. This study aims to investigate the associations of activity patterns with female reproductive diseases.

It remains essential to investigate the differences in phytotoxic effects between conventional and biodegradable microplastics (MPs). Furthermore, the mechanisms by which biochar mitigates the toxic effects of MPs on crops and soil remain poorly understood. The results of this research indicated that, compared to control treatment (CK), the application of 2 % polyethylene (PE) alone led to a significant reduction in the fresh weight of pakchoi by 36.

The viral protein mutations can modify virus-host interactions during virus evolution, and thus alter the extent of infection or pathogenicity. Studies indicate that nucleocapsid (N) protein of SARS-CoV-2 participates in viral genome assembly, intracellular signal regulation and immune interference. However, its biological function in viral evolution is not well understood.

Introduction: Rapid symptom relief is crucial for individuals with emotional disorders. The current study aimed to determine whether facilitator-supported mindfulness-based self-help (MBSH) intervention as an adjunctive treatment could provide rapid improvement for individuals with emotional disorders.

Methods: A practice-oriented randomized controlled trial was conducted on a sample of 302 patients with emotional disorders from four centers.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are synthetic perfluorinated compounds known for their persistence in the environment and reproduction toxicity. PFAS, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), have been identified in the follicular fluid of infertile women. However, the specific of PFOA and PFOS mixture on oocyte quality and female fertility remain unclear.

A pathogen strain responsible for sweet potato stem and foliage scab disease was isolated from sweet potato stems. Through a phylogenetic analysis based on the rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, combined with morphological methods, the isolated strain was identified as To comprehensively analyze the pathogenicity of the isolated strain from a genetic perspective, the whole-genome sequencing of HD-1 was performed using both the PacBio and Illumina platforms. The genome of HD-1 is about 26.

First-line immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) combinations show responses in subsets of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Nearly half of HCCs are Wnt-active with mutations in (encoding for β-catenin), , or , and demonstrate limited benefit to ICI due to an immune excluded tumor microenvironment. We show significant tumor responses in multiple β-catenin-mutated immunocompetent HCC models to a novel siRNA encapsulated in lipid nanoparticle targeting (LNP-CTNNB1).
