Background: The prognostic value of serum uric acid (SUA) for incident acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in hypertensive subjects is uncertain. Therefore, the present study examined the association between SUA and incident ACS in a large cohort of Chinese hypertensive adults.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study, which enrolled 5473 Chinese community-dwelling hypertensive patients from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2012.
Circulating miR-155 play a vital role in hypertension. The aim of the present study was to explore the association of miR-155 with blood pressure and inflammatory markers, and to investigate the predictive value of circulating miR-155 for white coat hypertension (WCH). This cross-sectional study was continuously enrolled 105 subjects and was divided into three groups based on office blood pressure monitoring and 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM): normal hypertension, WCH, and hypertension group.

Microflotation tests using oleic acid as the collector showed that the pre-addition of FeSO·7HO and subsequent addition of sodium silicate (SS) resulted in a stronger selective depression effect on fluorite compared with SS alone. Addition of FeSO·7HO reduced the required dosage of SS and had little negative effects on scheelite recovery.

Experimental evidence of a decrease in the band-gap energy and an upward shift of the topmost three valence subbands upon the incorporation of Bi atoms is provided, whereas the symmetry and ordering of the valence band states remain unchanged, that is, Γ, Γ, and Γ within the current range of Bi compositions. The extraordinary valence band structure of WZ GaBiAs NWs is explained by anisotropic hybridization and anticrossing between p-like Bi states and the extended valence band states of host WZ GaAs.

Methods: We examined the association between LDL-C levels and DM in 9892 participants with hypertension using logistic regression. Participants were stratified into three groups according to LDL-C levels (desirable, borderline high or high), then further divided into quartiles.
Diffusion-ordered NMR spectroscopy (DOSY) can be used for separating mixture components according to their individual diffusion behaviors, thus offering a powerful tool for the analysis of compound mixtures. However, conventional DOSY experiments generally encounter the problem of limited resolution in the spectral domain, particularly for applications to complex mixtures that contains crowed resonances in 1D NMR. In addition, chemical exchange effects, bringing about spurious component signals, pose another limitation for interpreting DOSY measurements.

Previous studies have proved that microRNAs (miRNAs) participate in the development of cardiac hypertrophy and regulate the pathological progress. In this study, we want to investigate the role of microRNA-92b-3p (miR-92b-3p) in cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and the mechanisms involved.

The study was conducted with a single-dose (25 mg/kg) oral administration at a water temperature of 18 or 28°C, while in the residue elimination study, fish were administered at 25 mg/kg daily for three consecutive days by oral gavage to determine the withdrawal period (WDT) at 28°C. The FFC and FFA levels in plasma and tissues (liver, kidneys and muscle) were analysed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Over the past decade, a myriad of biomolecular assemblies, such as self-assembly proteins, lipids, and DNA nanostructures, have been used in a wide range of applications, from nano-optics to nanoelectronics and drug delivery. The method of controlling when and where the self-assembly starts is essential for assembly dynamics and functionalization.

The multivalent binding sites endow the MA-RCA network with a strong binding ability towards CTCs, and the repeated cell capture/release processes are also actualized in a noninvasive manner.

Methods: Two hundred and fifty-four elderly patients (age ≥ 60.0) with newly diagnosed non-metastatic NPC were retrospectively analysed.
The aim of this meta-analysis of longitudinal studies was to obtain a valid and cogent assessment of predictive value of central haemodynamic variables for cardiovascular outcomes and all-cause mortality. We searched for eligible articles using MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE and Web of Science between 1 January 1969 and 31 December 2017. We finally included 24 prospective cohort studies, comprising 146,986 individuals for this analysis.

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) provides a noninvasive tool for metabolite characterization of in vivo biological samples. Conventional MRS measurements on biological samples generally suffer from field inhomogeneity caused by intrinsic magnetic susceptibility variations inside samples. Compared to one-dimensional MRS, two-dimensional (2D) J-resolved spectroscopy enables resolving J couplings along one of the spectral dimension and benefits to metabolite identification and analyses.

Prehypertension, the intermediate stage between normal blood pressure and hypertension, is linked with subclinical atherosclerosis and target-organ damage.
Methods: This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between total bilirubin and carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT), a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis, in patients with prehypertension.
This study sought to investigate minichromosome maintenance protein 3 (MCM3) and minichromosome maintenance protein 7 (MCM7) expression in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) samples, and to evaluate the relationship between clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis. The expressions of MCM3 and MCM7 were evaluated using immunohistochemistry of tissue sections from SACC patients, and statistical analyses were performed to evaluate the associations between MCM expression and clinicopathological variables and to analyze the disease-free survival (DFS) and prognostic factors. The positive expression rates of MCM3 and MCM7 in SACC were 98.

Methods: This proposed NMR method is designed based on the combination of a selective gradient encoding module to encode chemical shifts with spatial positions, and a J-modulation decoding module to reveal encoded structural information. Multi-band SGEN-J is further implemented to effectively enhance spectral sensitivity with a sustained tolerance of field inhomogeneity.
Background/aims: Atherosclerosis is a serious disease that increases the risk of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. Previous studies have demonstrated that microRNA (miR)-29c could play significant roles in atherosclerosis via regulating inflammatory processes. However, the relationship between miR-29c and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) remains unknown.

Herein, we reported a DNA octahedron-based fluorescence nanoprobe, which was capable of detecting and imaging of two kinds of tumor-related mRNAs in living cells simultaneously. The DNA nanoprobe was constructed of eight single-stranded DNAs, in which two oligonucleotides (recognition sequences) were modified with quenchers (BHQ2 and BHQ3) and the adjacent sequences were modified with fluorophores (Cy3 and Cy5), respectively.

DNA nanostructures with controllable motions and functions have been used as flexible scaffolds to precisely and spatially organize molecular reactions at the nanoscale. The construction of dynamic DNA nanostructures with site-specifically incorporated functional elements is a critical step toward building nanomachines. Artificial self-assembled DNA nanostructures have also been developed to mimic key biological processes like various small biomolecule- and protein-based functional biochemistry pathways.
