Outcomes of dose-adjusted Berlin-Frankfurt-Münster-90 regimen without radiotherapy in adolescents and adults with T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes using the dose-adjusted Berlin-Frankfurt-Munster (BFM-90) regimen without radiotherapy in adolescents and adults with T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) at Beijing Cancer Hospital. Between March 2004 and December 2013, 57 newly diagnosed T-LBL patients were treated in our center. We retrospectively analyzed their main clinical characteristics and prognosis.

Population structure of Lactobacillus helveticus isolates from naturally fermented dairy products based on multilocus sequence typing.

Lactobacillus helveticus is an economically important lactic acid bacterium used in industrial dairy fermentation. In the present study, the population structure of 245 isolates of L. helveticus from different naturally fermented dairy products in China and Mongolia were investigated using an multilocus sequence typing scheme with 11 housekeeping genes.

Comparative genomic analysis of 45 type strains of the genus Bifidobacterium: a snapshot of its genetic diversity and evolution.

Bifidobacteria are well known for their human health-promoting effects and are therefore widely applied in the food industry. Members of the Bifidobacterium genus were first identified from the human gastrointestinal tract and were then found to be widely distributed across various ecological niches. Although the genetic diversity of Bifidobacterium has been determined based on several marker genes or a few genomes, the global diversity and evolution scenario for the entire genus remain unresolved.

[Non-upper aerodigestive tract NK/T- cell lymphoma: an analysis of clinical features and survival from a single center in China].

Objective: To analyze clinical features and outcomes of non-upper aerodigestive tract NK/T-cell lymphoma (NUAT-NKTCL).

Methods: Clinical data of 44 patients with NUAT-NKTCL diagnosed at Peking University Cancer Hospital between 1999 and 2013 were retrospectively analyzed.

Results: Of the 44 patients, there were 31 males and 13 females with a median age of 39 years (range, 15 to 82 years).

[Clinical value of flow cytometry in assessing bone marrow involvement of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma].

Objective: To evaluate the value of flow cytometry (FCM) in the diagnosis of bone marrow involvement in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL).

Methods: The cytomorphology, biopsy and FCM tests were performed concurrently on bone marrow samples from 206 patients who were consecutively diagnosed as NHL from March 2013 to August 2013 at Peking University Cancer Hospital. The results were analyzed and compared.

Background: Burkitt's lymphoma is an aggressive malignancy with high risk of metastasis to extranodal sites, such as bone marrow and central nervous system. [Analysis of lymphoma incidence in Beijing, 1998-2010].

Objective: To analyze the incidence trends and characteristics of lymphoma in Beijing, 1998-2010.

Methods: Total of 9 763 new cases diagnosed as lymphoma in 1998-2010 were extracted from the population-based database of Beijing Cancer Registry, covering population of 151 601 066 person-years. Incidence, age-adjusted incidence, cumulative incidence, truncated incidence and annual percentage change (APC) were calculated.

Although the microtubule-stabilizing agent paclitaxel has been widely used for treatment of several cancer types, particularly for the malignancies of epithelia origin, it only shows limited efficacy on hematological malignancies. Reactivation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) can occur in lymphoma patients infected with HBV when they receive chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Prophylactic administration of lamivudine (LAM) reduces the morbidity and mortality associated with HBV reactivation. However, what defines HBV reactivation and the optimal duration of treatment with LAM have not yet been clearly established.
