Many clearing methods achieve high transparency by removing lipid components from tissues, which damages microstructure and limits their application in lipid research. As for methods which preserve lipid, it is difficult to balance transparency, fluorescence preservation and clearing speed. In this study, we propose a rapid water-based clearing method that is fluorescence-friendly and preserves lipid components.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels and the development of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in a Chinese population over five years.
  • It found that 13.3% of participants developed MetS, with higher hs-CRP levels significantly associated with increased risk, particularly in women (OR: 4.82) but not in men (OR: 3.15).
  • The findings suggest that hs-CRP may be a useful target for predicting and addressing MetS, emphasizing the need for sex-specific approaches in future research.

Objective: To explore the value of detecting podocalyxin (PCX) level in urinary extracellular vesicles for the diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy.

Methods: This study was conducted among 57 diabetic patients admitted during the period from March to September, 2017, including 34 with uncomplicated diabetics and 23 with diabetic nephropathy; 21 patients with other types of nephropathy and 11 healthy individuals were also included to serve as the controls. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) were used to verify the separation of urinary extracellular vesicles.

Baihui (GV20) is one of the most important acupoints of the Du meridian (the government vessel) and is commonly used in neurology and psychiatry and as a distal point of anorectal disorders by general practitioners. The anatomical relationship between the scalp region of the acupoint and the underlying corresponding cortex remains obscure. In this study, we first prepared the indicator for MRI scanning on a GE 1.
