Article Synopsis
  • - Calcareous sand is important for construction on islands and reefs, and using Microbially Induced Calcite Precipitation (MICP) is an innovative way to enhance its properties.
  • - The study used 3D scanning to measure the effects of MICP on sand particle size and shape, finding that treatment improved particle size and volume while reducing flatness.
  • - Testing showed that at a specific concentration of cementation solution, both the crushing strength and energy of the sand were maximized, and different crushing modes were identified, with thicker coatings influencing the way particles broke apart.

Extensive research has consistently shown an association between relational victimization and internalizing problems among adolescents. However, limited information is available about the underlying peer status related factors that may mediate or moderate this association. Using a short-term longitudinal design with a six-month interval between the two waves, this study examined whether popularity status insecurity mediated the associations between relational victimization and internalizing problems and whether this mediational process was moderated by popularity status among 447 (250 girls) Chinese 7th and 8th graders.

Previous research has shown that adolescents' insecurity about their social status is related to their use of relational aggression. However, little is known about how adolescents' social cognition may moderate this association. Employing a mixed-method approach and a short-term longitudinal design, this study addresses this issue by examining the moderation effects of attribution and outcome expectancies regarding relational aggression on the associations between social status insecurity and relational aggression among 476 Chinese adolescents (238 girls).
