Background: A hospital-based case-control study was carried out to elucidate the association of Matrix metalloproteinase-2 () gene candidate polymorphisms with the susceptibility to Alzheimer's disease (AD) in the Chinese Han population.
Methods: A total of 200 AD cases and an equal number of healthy controls were recruited to undergo genotyping of specific loci within the gene loci (, , ). Logistic regression analysis was applied to examine the association of the genotypes and alleles of gene polymorphisms with AD after adjusting clinical confounding factors.
Objective: β-Amyloid (Aβ) induced neurotoxicity is an implicated mechanism in Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study focused on the role of GDP dissociation inhibitor 1 (GDI1) in Aβ-induced neurotoxicity.
Methods: Data from the GEO database for AD-related datasets GSE140829, GSE63061, GSE36980, and GSE60360 were downloaded and identified common differentially expressed genes (coDEGs).
There are concerns that the innovation of genetically modified herbicide-tolerant (GMHT) plants, as well as the application of herbicide to such GMHT plants, could have an impact on ecological interactions and unintentionally harm non-targeted organisms. Consequently, we intend to use full-length 16 S rDNA amplicon sequencing to examine changes in the bacterial community in the rhizosphere of GMHT soybean (Z106) harboring 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase and Glyphosate N-acetyltransferase genes and GMHT soybean treated with glyphosate (Z106G). Glyphosate application significantly impacted bacterial alpha diversity (species richness, and Shannon diversity).

In vitro EGFR and cell growth inhibition assay demonstrated that compound PMMB-317 exhibited the most potent anti-EGFR (IC = 22.7 nM) and anti-proliferation activity (IC = 4.

Using 5-μm oxide aperture sizes, the frequency response behavior can be improved from 18.4 GHz and 15.

In this study, the maize root-associated bacterial communities of () transgenic glyphosate-tolerant (GT) maize line CC-2 (CC2) and its recipient variety Zhengdan958 (Z958) were compared at the tasseling and flowering stages by high-throughput sequencing of V3-V4 hypervariable regions of 16S rRNA gene (16S rDNA) amplicons via Illumina MiSeq. In addition, real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) was also performed to analyze the gene abundance between CC2 and Z958.

The elevation of mood and behavior is hypothetically a scenario that alkalosis resets the functional status of neuronal networks to overexcitation. In addition to the downregulation of inhibitory neurons, we examined whether alkalosis upregulates the functions of cortical principal neurons by electrophysiological approach.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are proteins or lipids that become glycated after exposure to sugars. The formation of AGEs promotes the deposition of proteins due to the protease resistant crosslinking between the peptides and proteins.

Acid-base imbalance leads to pathological cognition and behaviors in the clinical practices. In the comparison with acidosis, the cellular mechanisms underlying alkalosis-induced brain dysfunction remain unclear. By using electrophysiological approach, we investigated the influences of high extracellular pH environment on cortical GABAergic neurons in terms of their responsiveness to synaptic inputs and their ability to produce action potentials.
