Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection causes Hepatitis B, which is one of the most common causes of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the host immune genes could impact HBV infection, viral clearance, and treatment effect. However, the contradictory roles of several studies suggest further analysis of various populations.

Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is an extensive health problem, which leads to serious liver diseases. Host genetic polymorphisms were associated with HCV infection, progression, and treatment effect of patients. Signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathway was important to HCV infection, but no genetic association was studied between STAT3 signaling pathway and HCV infection.

Background: Hepatitis B infection is one of the most severe hepatic diseases in China. Thus, understanding the genetic pathogenesis of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-infected individuals is important. Although no consistent result is obtained in different populations, HBV treatment effect is reportedly associated with the gene.

Endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidases (ERAPs), ERAP1 and ERAP2, are critical components in the antigen-presentation system and are specialized to produce optimal-sized peptides for HLA I binding. ERAP gene polymorphisms have been correlated with HLA-associated diseases. To investigate the association between ERAP gene polymorphisms and HCV chronic infection, a TaqMan assay was used to genotype 4 SNPs (rs27044, rs30187, rs26618 and rs26653) in ERAP1 and 2 SNPs (rs2248374 and rs2549782) in ERAP2 genes in 376 Chinese Han HCV chronic infections and 324 healthy Chinese Han controls.

Background: Hepatitis B is one of the most common infectious diseases in China, and it is necessary to study biochemical indicators of HBV infected patients.

Methods: Biochemical and basic features of 1765 HBV infected patients and 840 general controls were collected and analyzed from Southwest China.

Results: A total of 23.

Recently, we reported that the frequency of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes and subtypes has rapidly changed among intravenous drug users (IDUs) in Yunnan Province over the last 5 years; this is especially true for subtype 6a which has increased in frequency from 5 to 15%. Here, we assessed 120 HCV-positive plasma samples from the general population (GP). HCV NS5B fragments were amplified and sequenced by PCR.

Objective: To assess the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the low molecular weight polypeptide (LMP) gene with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among ethnic Han population from Yunnan.

Methods: A total of 427 patients with chronic HCV infection and 412 healthy controls were recruited. SNPs rs1351383, rs17587 and rs2127675 from the promoter region of the LMP2 gene and rs2071543 from the promoter region of the LPM7 gene were genotyped using a TaqMan probe.

We investigated polymorphisms of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I (A, B, and C) loci of a Han population (n, 239) from the Yunnan province, Southwest China, using high-resolution polymerase chain reaction-Luminex (PCR-Luminex) typing. We combined the HLA data from this study with the KIR genotypes from a previous study of this Han population to analyze the combination of KIR/HLA ligands. A total of 27 HLA-A, 54 HLA-B, and 31 HLA-C alleles were found in this population.
