A lysosome-targeting chimera (LYTAC) offers a novel strategy for degrading extracellular proteins previously considered to be undruggable by hijacking the lysosomal degradation system. However, clinical use of LYTAC has been limited due to the potential for uncontrolled degradation and systemic toxicity. Based on our previously developed genetically encoded TfR-LYTAC, here, we introduce a photothermal-inducible switch in the engineered bacterium to enable spatiotemporal expression of TfR-LYTAC.

This study explores how various experimental factors, such as temperature, viscosity, and stirring speed, affect Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) material's structural properties and electroneutrality. These factors influence key attributes like sodium ions, vacancies, and water content, which is governed by electroneutrality. Higher temperatures, faster stirring, low viscosity, and high Na+ concentration enhance Na+ incorporation because of the sufficient Na+ supplement, leading to a dense monoclinic structure with fewer vacancies and lower water content.

Obesity is associated with numerous metabolic complications including insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and a reduced capacity for physical activity. Whole-body ablation of liver fatty acid-binding protein (LFABP) in mice was shown to alleviate several of these metabolic complications; high-fat (HF)-fed LFABP knockout (LFABP) mice developed higher fat mass than their wild-type (WT) counterparts but displayed a metabolically healthy obese (MHO) phenotype with normoglycemia, normoinsulinemia, and reduced hepatic steatosis compared with WT. Since LFABP is expressed in both liver and intestine, in the present study, we generated LFABP conditional knockout (cKO) mice to determine the contributions of LFABP specifically within the liver or within the intestine, to the whole-body phenotype of the global knockout.

Bacteria and endogenous enzymes generate volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are posited to be the primary source of undesirable flavors in spoilt pork. Headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) was employed to assess the fluctuations in VOC concentrations in pork stored under tray packaging at 6-8 °C for 10 days, while total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) and total viable counts (TVCs) were used to determine the quality of the pork. During storage, TVCs steadily increased, reflecting the growth of spoilage-related microorganisms, while TVB-N levels surpassed the spoilage threshold early, indicating an acceleration of the degradation process.

To investigate the flavour evolution mechanism of raw Pu-erh tea (RPT) during storage, the volatile and non-volatile compounds of RPT with different storage years (1-10 years) from the same raw material origin, manufacturer, and storage location in Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, were systematically analysed by HPLC, HS-SPME-GC-MS, and OAV. The results showed that both cluster analyses based on non-volatile and volatile compounds could classify RPT of different storage years into three ageing cycles, with key turning points in the third and eighth years of storage, which is also accompanied by the colour changing from green to orange or brown, the aroma changing from a faint scent to woody and ageing, the astringency diminishing, and the sweet and mellow increasing. Theophylline was identified as the potential marker of RPT stored 1-3 years, while (-)-catechin gallate, (-)-gallocatechin gallate, quercetin, and rutin as those for a storage of 9-10 years.

Fluoroquinolones (FQs) are present in trace amounts in the environment, from where they enter animal- and plant-derived food products. Long-term exposure to low-dose drugs poses a risk to human health and increases the pressure on antibiotic selection. Based on previous aptamer screening with high FQs specificity, this study combined a new aptamer recognition probe with a metal-organic framework (MOF) to obtain a sample pretreatment composite material with strong FQs specificity for multi-target analysis.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects and mechanisms of all- lycopene on intestinal health by establishing lipopolysaccharide-induced (LPS-induced) jejunal inflammation model. Dietary lycopene supplementation enhanced serum and jejunum antioxidant capacity. Lycopene significantly reduced LPS-induced upregulation of toll-like receptor-4 (TLR-4) and nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB), suggesting that lycopene reduced the activation of TLR-4/NF-κB signaling pathway induced by LPS challenge, and further protected mice from LPS induced jejunal inflammation.
