Background: With the increasing of the global aging population, healthy aging and prevention of age-related diseases have become increasingly important. The liver, a vital organ involved in metabolism, detoxification, digestion, and immunity, holds a pivotal role in the aging process of organisms. Although extensive research on liver aging has been carried out, no bibliometric analysis has been conducted to evaluate the scientific progress in this area.

In this study, the roles of synthetic bovine neutrophil β-defensin-5 (B5) in regulating inflammatory response and metabolic response against multidrug-resistant infection in a mouse model were investigated. Mice were administrated intranasally with 20 μg of B5 twice and challenged with three days after B5 pretreatment.

Naringenin (NRG), a natural flavonoid widely present in citrus fruits, has been reported can penetrate the blood-brain barrier and exert anti-inflammatory effects in the central nervous system. Here, we investigate the protective effects of long-term NRG treatment on AD.

However, variations in experimental design and stimuli across studies have led to mixed results. The current meta-analysis aimed to identify which type of eye tracking task and stimulus are most effective at differentiating high-risk infants (siblings of children with ASD) who later meet diagnosis criteria from low-risk infants without familial autism.

The serum creatinine/serum cystatin C ratio (Scr/Cys C ratio) has recently been recognized as a valuable indicator for assessing sarcopenia. However, few studies have examined the association between serum creatinine/serum cystatin C ratio and frailty.

And previous studies have reported the association between ALM and stroke or Alzheimer's disease (AD), however, the causal relationship is still unclear, The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether genetically predicted ALM is causally associated with the risk of stroke and AD by performing Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses.
Methods: A two-sample MR study was designed.
The COVID-19 pandemic overwhelmed national health care systems, not least in the context of hepatitis elimination. This study investigates the effects of the pandemic response on the incidence rate, mortality rate, and case fatality rate (CFR) for hepatitis C virus (HCV) cases in China. We extracted the number of hepatitis C cases and HCV-related deaths by month and year for 2015 to 2021 in China and applied two proportional tests to analyze changes in the average yearly incidence rates, mortality rates, and CFRs for 2015 to 2020.

Methods And Subjects: We collected data from 188 sepsis patients at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a double-stranded DNA virus with an envelope, is a ubiquitous pathogen that is prevalent in humans, although most people who contract it do not develop symptoms (Kerr, 2019). While the primary cells EBV attacks are epithelial cells and B lymphocytes, its target range expands to a variety of cell types in immunodeficient hosts. Serological change occurs in 90% of infected patients.

Children were presented with a series of videos in which two actors either played with blocks based on joint intention (social condition) or played with blocks independently (nonsocial condition). In the familiarization stage, two actors demonstrated how they played with blocks three times.

Parishin, which is a phenolic glucoside derived from Gastrodia elata, significantly prolonged yeast lifespan. However, the action of parishin in vascular ageing remains poorly understood.

Therefore, the intestine is a vital target to delay intestinal epithelial cellular senescence and extend healthy lifespan. Alginate oligosaccharides (AOSs) have a wide range of biological and pharmacological activities.

We hypothesized that pandemic mitigation measures might have reduced the incidence, mortality rates, and case fatality ratios (CFRs) of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in 2020-2022.
Method: We collected HIV incidence and mortality data from the website of the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China from January 2015 to December 2022.
Disruption of the intestinal barrier is both the cause and result of sepsis. The proliferation and differentiation of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) promote the regenerative nature of intestinal epithelial cells, repairing the injured intestinal mucosal barrier; however, it is uncertain whether the recovery effects mediated by the ISCs are related to the gut microbiota. This research found that the survival rate of septic mice was improved with a () treatment.

The ε4 allele of apolipoprotein E () is an important genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). We aimed to evaluate the association of CSF GAP-43 with cognition and whether this correlation was related to the ε4 status.

Background: The sarcopenia index (SI, serum creatinine/serum cystatin C × 100) is recently suggested to be a reliable marker for sarcopenia. It has been reported that sarcopenia is associated with poorer cognition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between SI and cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).

Recently, serum creatinine to cystatin C ratio (CCR) has been recommended as a promising biomarker for detecting sarcopenia. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between CCR and depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older adults using the baseline data of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).

Progressive immune dysfunction associated with aging is known as immunosenescence. The age-related deterioration of immune function is accompanied by chronic inflammation and microenvironment changes. Immunosenescence can affect both innate and acquired immunity.
