Background: Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is an important factor of causing leg pain and numbness. As a secondary discipline of Traditional Chinese Medicine, tuina is widely used for the treatment of LDH in China even in other nations while its clinical value is not acknowledged universally. So, we focus on this article aims to evaluate its efficacy and safety of LDH.

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), an immune-mediated demyelinating peripheral neuropathy, is characterized by acute weakness of the extremities and areflexia or hyporeflexia. Experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN) is a common animal model for GBS, which represents a CD4 T cell-mediated inflammatory autoimmune demyelination of the peripheral nervous system (PNS), and is used to investigate the pathogenic mechanism of GBS. It has been found that macrophages play a critical role in the pathogenesis of both GBS and EAN.

Right-to-Left Shunt Does Not Increase the Incidence of Silent Lacunar Infarcts in Patients with Migraine.

Right-to-left shunt (RLS) is associated with cryptogenic stroke and migraine. Herein we investigated the relationship between RLS and silent lacunar infarcts in patients with migraine. A total of 263 patients with migraine who met eligibility criteria were enrolled from January 2010 to December 2011, among which 127 subjects fell into RLS group.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between sleep duration and obesity among Chinese adults.

Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among Chinese adults in 2008. In total, 3225 participants were selected by a multistage cluster sampling method.

Correlation study of knowledge and behavior regarding breast care among female undergraduate students in China.

Background: This study aimed to understand the relationship between knowledge level and behavior on breast care in Chinese students, so as to provide strategies for improving the health education of breast care and subsequently for aiding in breast cancer prevention.

Materials And Methods: A self-designed questionnaire was used to evaluate breast care knowledge level and characterize related behavior. Correlation analysis was conducted for the knowledge level and behavior.

Thickness-shear vibration of an AT-cut quartz plate with elliptical electrodes and implications in optimal blank geometry.

We analyze thickness-shear vibration of an AT-cut quartz plate with elliptical electrodes. The electrodes are essentially optimal in the sense of Mindlin in that they approximately satisfy the criterion for Bechmann's number in every direction. The results of our analysis suggest that optimal crystal blank geometry is essentially elliptical.
