Background: Human behavior patterns involve mutual interactions among psychology, physiology, and stress, which are all associated with gait at different grades.
Research Questions: The study aims to reveal the interrelationship among personality, mental workload, and gait patterns by capturing gait variations using inertial sensors. It also assesses individual personality traits and simulates stress to construct a gait classification model.
Purpose: Previous studies demonstrated that providing light finger touch to a stationary object leads to reduced body sway. The focus of the current exploratory study was on the investigation of postural sway during one-leg stance when light touch is provided by the contralateral foot.
Methods: Eleven healthy young adults participated in the study.
Large-scale fabrication of neutron-shielding films with flexible or complex shapes is challenging. Uniform and high boron carbide (BC) filler loads with sufficient workability are needed to achieve good neutron-absorption capacity. Here, we show that a two-dimensional (2D) TiCT MXene hybrid film with homogeneously distributed BC particles exhibits high mechanical flexibility and anomalous neutron-shielding properties.

EMG activity of six trunk and lower limb muscles was recorded.
Background: Center of pressure (COP) trajectory during treadmill walking have been commonly presented using the butterfly diagram to describe gait characteristics in neurologically intact and impaired individuals. However, due to the large amount of displayed information, the butterfly diagram is not an efficient solution to visualize locomotor variability.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate post-stroke locomotor variability by applying Kernel density estimation (KDE) on the intersections of the butterfly diagram, and to compare KDE derived metrics with conventional metrics of gait symmetry and variability.
Controllability of posture in the medial-lateral direction is critical for balance maintenance, particularly in step initiation. The objective of the current study was to examine the effects of external perturbation and landing orientation on medial-lateral control stability in step initiation.
